Sunway Velocity Mall Kuala Lumpur is finally opened! Located in Jalan Cheras, Maluri KL (OK now Summergirl gets more confuse, so it is considered Cheras area or Maluri area? Hahaha). Either one, doesn’t matter, because this 1million square feet mall is now one of the nearest shopping malls for us!
We have been seeing the advertising boards of Sunway Velocity since 2014. Time flies and 2 years had passed, now it is really glad to welcome a large, proper shopping centre in the city after quite a number of disappointing malls mushrooming in KL & PJ areas.
The mall is supposed to opened in October 2016 but delayed to December, still in time to make it before 2016 ends. Officially, 8th December. Not too sure if Sunway Velocity will get another round of attention by the public as what happened in IOI City Mall, but we guess it will, as it was already quite busy at their first week of opening.
We reached around 10.30AM on Saturday, no traffic jam but plenty of cars in parking. No WOW impression in terms of interior and design, pretty standard but tenants wise, more than enough to satisfy shoppers of all age.
Total 6 floors, with AEON MaxValu Prime as anchor brand at basement floor, followed by Parkson for the rest. There’s even Makan Makan by Parkson, coming soon. TGV Cinema on highest floor.
What to eat in Sunway Velocity? Things that we concern the most, as usual. From snacks bar to cafes, restaurant, food court, pick your favourite. Some common chain restaurants are BBQ Plaza (Long queue..We have no idea why), Sushi Zanmai, Sushi King, Caffebene, Rakuzen, Morganfield’s Kenny Rogers Roasters, Fish & Co, Sakae Sushi, just to name a few.
Kin Kin Chilli Pan Mee, GO Noodles House, Kim Lian Kee, Porridge Time, Purple Cane, Hong Kong Roast, Shilin Taiwan Street Snack, and Wong Kok Char Chan Teng can easily becoming crowd favourite for Chinese food choices.
Almost every floor has something to eat but most F&B tenants are resided in B1, Ground, 2nd, 4th floor. Bentoya, BOXES cafe, HK Jeuk Sing Cafe, Monzeter Fried Ice Cream, Juicee, Doutor Coffee are some of the independent brands that raise our interest.
Needless to say, shopping opportunity is great here! H&M, Brands, Padini Concept Stores, Cotton On, Voir, Giordano, G2000, Nichii, Kitschen, Romp, Adidas, high street brands; Charles & Keith, Levi’s, ALDO, Carlo Rino and not to forget — SPAO!!!!
In short, the mall is huge. You can easily spent whole day here. Sunway Velocity Mall Cheras is offering FREE parking till end of December. The mall will be fully opened in 2017, complete with covered link bridge walkway to 2 MRT stations. Clearly, it will soon becoming KL hottest shopping heaven, competitors to MyTown IKEA Cheras, AEON Big, AEON Maluri nearby.
The interesting part: Currently, Sunway Velocity showcases different dining scene comparing to Klang Valley major malls like KLCC, Mid Valley, or One Utama. Weekend lunch crowd at Wong Kok and Pat Kin Pat San were full house, but Kenny Rogers was empty. BBQ Plaza and Sushi Zanmai had long queue, Manhatten Fish Market and Ichiban Boshi were empty. Canton Kitchen was at brisk business, but Esquire Kitchen next to it had no customers. So unpredictable. LOL. Anyway, enjoy, shoppers!
