Shinmapo ( New Mapogalmegi 新痲蒲 ), the famous Korean BBQ Restaurant with over 500 outlets worldwide has opened their second outlet in Malaysia – The Gardens Mall 3rd floor, same row with Sushi Zanmai and Ippudo Ramen. Definitely a more centralized location that makes KL folks cheers.
Back in June, we wanted to visit Shinmapo Subang SS15 Courtyard but our friends told us that they waited 2 hours for a seat. A feedback that is enough to set us back from visiting. Haha. Glad to hear that The Gardens Shinmapo is officially launched, welcoming diners with a much bigger dining space comparing to Courtyard Subang. Private rooms are available too!
Fluffy egg ring, flavoursome meat, melted cheese, fist rice balls, volcano fried rice – this pretty much sum up signature items in Shinmapo Korean BBQ, in general. But looking through Shinmapo menu, we realize they actually cover more than that. Ala-carte orders such as Grilled Buckwheat Noodles in Iced Broth RM22, Spicy Buckwheat Noodles RM22, Seafood Tofu Stew RM25, Hot Pot Bibimbap RM25, Soybean Paste Stew RM25 are equally noteworthy.
Kimchi Pancake
Plus, the kitchen will come up with Kimchi Pancake, tentatively in December. Thick layer, slightly crunch at the sides, chewy inside with light kimchi sourness. So good that even Summerkid who doesn’t fancy Korean pancake gives approval for this. Besides, we’re quite surprise with the amount of seafood stuffed within the pancake, so generous.
Non-Spicy BBQ Set (RM88 1-2pax, RM118 2-4pax) /
Spicy Ultimate Set (RM98 1-2pax, RM128 2-4pax)
Coming to the highlight – sizzling meat over charcoal! Shinmapo offers 2 types of BBQ Set- Signature Set (non-spicy) and Ultimate Set (spicy), available for 1-2pax or 2-4 pax. Each set is complete with pork skirt meat, pork belly, marinated pork collar, mixed grilled platter, army stew, signature kimchi egg crust, salads and refillable banchan.
Extra meat, seafood, vegetables including pork neck, pork collar, pork skin, cheese sausage, king mushroom, pineapple, enoki bacon bouquet, chicken, prawn, cuttlefish and more can be ordered separately too. Personally, we recommend cheese sausage (*very nice!) and pineapple.
Additional order of Kimchi Egg Crust at RM10
While waiting for the meat to cook, enjoy the half ring of kimchi egg crust in luscious golden yellow, fluffed at the center, crisp at the edges. Add another helping of cheese pot (RM25) if you wished to. Let is melt under the heat, then coat over delicious grilled meat. Cheesy, meaty – sinful but hard to resist.
Army stew, or Budae Jjigae that comes together with our Signature Set
Diners who are looking for more filling meal after finishing Army Stew can have their famous Volcano Fried Rice (RM33) that symbolizes Halla Mountain in Jeju Island; Fist Rice Balls (RM25), or more basic form of carb like Steamed Rice (RM5) and Ramyeon (RM5).
Wash down with soju or makgeolli. Shinmapo beverage list offers various flavours of these. Overall, a satisfying BBQ experience at Korea’s No.1 BBQ Restaurant! Suggest to come in group for more enjoyable dining !
