Ante Kitchen & Bar Publika has always been our favourite restaurant for pork steak in KL since their opening in 2012. Food quality is consistent throughout these few years (*something which is worth a mention), plus the team revamps Ante menu annually to ensure the best for customers.
Recently, Ante restaurant takes up the challenge to open an outlet in One Utama Shopping Mall. Great news for folks staying around Damansara PJ area, as they can save the travel miles and enjoy awesome pork meal after a long day of shopping. Our latest visit to Ante is still the main restaurant in Publika Solaris Dutamas. Haha (*alright alright, we’ll try our best to review Ante in One Utama ya~), and found that they’ve just updated their menu. Better selections with best-sellers remained!
Tasting Platter RM46
Trio meat – Jamon Iberico Ham, Spanish Cured Ham, Smoked Duck Breast Cubes, served with extra virgin olive oil infused rock melon and ricotta, Lescure butter and Sourdough bread. Eat the meat on its own, rolled it around rock melon, paired with bread with butter spread, either way is so good! Smoked Duck Breast Cubes is on point, cut into huge square cube instead of sliced version hence meatier, juicier. We ended up order add-on for this, RM12 for 4 cubes.
Miso Pork Belly RM19
12 hours slow-cooked pork belly, miso glazed, fork tender but still with bites, sealed with juiciness. Texture contrasted with herbed crust made from oven baked bread crumbs mixed with miso, butter and thyme herbs sprinkled over – an extra effort that makes this Japanese flavour infused dish more noteworthy.
House Smoked Bacon RM19
8mm pork belly bacons, proudly made in house. RM19 for 3 slices, you may not order this looking at the price but if you happened to dine in Ante, make sure you try. It’s worth. You’ll love biting into homemade bacon with crispy edges, pleasing chewiness, not just hard & dry texture. Served with a side of seeded mustard dipping sauce.
Crispy Trotter Salad RM29
Deep fried pork trotter skin served over a bed of mixed lollo lettuce, papaya and mango with pecan nuts, promegranate seeds. Interesting combinations, great for those who loves French vinaigrette-based salad dressing. Note: You can only get this salad in Ante Publika.
Garden Duck Salad RM27
We enjoyed this more comparing to Crispy Trotter Salad, thanks to the orange brandy dressing that falls on sweet side, a sauce that is easy to accept by most. Tossed in a bed of duck breast slices, baby romaine, grilled watemelon, cherry tomatoes and pecans.
Pork Striploin Black Pepper Sauce RM38
For the latest menu for signature steaks, Ante has summed up 4 types of selection, namely Pork Shoulder, Pork Ribeye, Pork Striploin Black Pepper Sauce and Pork Striploin Diane. Starting with Pork Striploin Black Pepper, an ideal cut for diners who prefer less sinful diet. Served with caramelised onions, fries, frisee and oak lettuce.
Pork Striploin Diane RM42
Another striploin selection, cooked in Diane style and served on a bed of creamy mushroom brandy sauce. Comes with a side of green pea mash and roasted Russet potatoes. Very filling due to the rich sauce, can be shared among two pax.
Pork Shoulder RM52
Well-marbled cut of dark meat on the bone, locked with juiciness, “doink doink” texture in every bite. Served with garlic rosemary sauce, somehow not our cup of tea but doesn’t matter as the shoulder is already amazing just on original flavours. Mashed potato, frisee and oak lettuce as sides.
Pork Ribeye RM52
Pork ribeye, our recommended dish that blends in buttery charred fat, on the bone. Served with truffle butter sauce, roasted Russet Potatoes, frisee and oak leaf lettuce. Asking why Ante can manage their grilled pork chop so well, we were told that the kitchen team handpicked and manicured all the cuts before cooking, ensuring quality in every slice. After cooking, all steaks undergo temperature checking for doneness before serving.
Bolognese RM23
While pork steaks are always the superstars in Ante, pastas, burgers and ribs here are not shadowed too. In fact, almost each is worth the attention. For pasta, you can go for Bolognese, Arrabbiata, Garlic Olio Carbonara from Classic sections; or Duck Pesto, Salmon Al-Fredo and Char-siu Curry Cream from Ante Specialty section.
Char-siu Curry Cream RM33
Must-try! Never fail to like this Char-siu Curry Cream Pasta. Creamy-based sauce thickly coated to the strands of linguine, mildly spicy as it is “curry-infused”. Tossed with shimeiji mushroom, eggplant ragout and chives. Char siew pork slices are oh-soo-nice! Not the usual char siew, more like braised meat but laced with charred sensation at edges, richly flavoured.
Carbonara RM30
Carbonara put together bacon bits, button mushrooms, parmesan, parsley, and egg yolk. Nothing gimmick but classic enough to make it earns its reputation to be one of the all-time-favourite in Ante.
Ended our meal with few homemade desserts, as there were two birthday boys that night. Valrhona Chocolate Delice, Creme Brulee, Creme Brulee and Tiramisu – we had them all. Hehe. Ante serves also beer, wine and cocktails, which make a good pairing with their food choices.
