Eatomo Food Co at Taman Desa Kuala Lumpur, a California-inspired casual market style kitchen serving imported seafood, meat dishes and Japanese comfort food at affordable price.
We first get to know about Eatomo Food Company was when we saw a number of Instagram pictures featuring beautiful cuts of salmon sashimi, and is not from the famous Top Catch Fisheries in OUG, neither The Fat Fish in Solaris Mont Kiara.
And then friends begin telling us this humble shop, which raises our interest to check it out. Eatomo opening hours is from 12PM – 3PM, then 6.00PM – 10.30PM, not exactly crowded when we visited last Sunday for lunch, but with a continuous flow of customers that were enough to keep the kitchen busy.
Eatomo menu is simple, highlighting items that the restaurant prides with on the very first page – Monthly Special Air-flown Seafood such as Norwagian Salmon Trout, Hokkaido Sea Urchin, Asahi Clam, just to name a few. Sashimi Market Menu follows closely, putting together Salmon Sashimi Box, Salmon Toro Box, Tai Box, Hamachi Box, Ayu Sashimi, Tako Box and Grilled Fresh Salmon Head, all imported from Norway, Chile or Japan.
Treat sashimi as “starter”, tuck into their rice bowl for a more fulfilling meal. California Poke Bowl is the crowd favourite, putting together mixed Sashimi, Poke marinate, Guacamole, Crab Salad, Masago, Spicy Mayo and few more discover-yourself-ingredients. Not exactly into Poke Bowl so we ordered one rice bowl each from Chicken Donburi and Beef Donburi.
Had a hard time to choose between Tori Nanban Bowl and Oyakadon V2.o. Settled down with Tori Namban Bowl because there’s reviews saying Eatomo serves awesome homemade tartar sauce. Indeed, it pairs really well with the deep fried chicken fillet, lightly flavoured up with sweet & tangy sauce. Together with refreshing crunch from Japanese cucumber, plus sharp pungent flavour from freshly cut onions, it makes a good comfort food. Portion wise, just right for a small eater, considering Summergirl can finish almost everything. Side dishes like Nagoya Tebasaki Wings, Fried Oyster Basket, Fried Shrimp Basket are worth ordering for a more fulfilling meal.
Gyudon + Onsen Tamgo ordered by Summerkid is highly recommended! Thin slices of nicely cooked prime Australian beef in Shoyu Mirin Onion Sauce, juicy and tender, generously topped over Japanese rice, crowned with Sous Vide Onsen Egg. Every rice bowl comes with Miso Soup at no charge, and plenty of ingredients in the soup.
For those who visit in group, do share a platter of Eatomo Black Chilean Mussels in Creamy Tangy Light Curry Wine Sauce, Fresh Clams in Creamy Tangy Curry Wine Sauce, Fresh Clams Steamed with Sake Lemon Butter Garlic Sauce from the Cast Iron selections. Served with Gourmet Fries, and can be switched to Imported French Bread Basket at additional RM1.90.
In short, Eatomo serves as an ideal place for both quick lunch/dinner and friends gathering over delicious sashimi, fresh oyster and rice bowl. Stop by at Just Fruits, a fruit & vegetable store below Eatomo for freshly squeeze juice or coffee after that! They have good deal of buy 1 free 1 juices or buy 2 free 1 coffee sometimes.
