Kokoro Japanese Restaurant humbly surfaces in Taman Segar Cheras KL, right beside Dragon Door Steamboat and Inside Scoop Ice Cream. Come for their affordable Japanese set meals, and stay for Kokoro Signature Gyumuya Matcha Parfai dessert. We promise you won’t be disappointed.
Apart from the usual selections on ala-carte menu, check out Kokoro special kaiseki that runs on limited time, only RM69++ or RM59++ for a 6 course set! Probably the cheapest in town!
Kaiseki Set A RM59++
Appetizer
Begin with appetizer, 3 in one plate. Love the mayo wasabi prawn the most. Followed by sour squid and edamame gingko, which are equally good.
Sashimi Salmon with Karashi Sauce
Glad to see Sashimi Salmon with Karashi Sauce on Kokoro Kaiseki menu, which is also a crowd favourite in their ala-carte order. Japanese marinated tomatoes, vegetables and rolled raw salmon sit on a bed of miso-mustard sauce – the key ingredient that makes this dish worthwhile, blending in a good balance of saltiness and tangy flavour with some pungent kick.
Oyster Grill with Sake & Soy Sauce
Never expect that we will be served two big fat juicy oyster for a Japanese course menu in less than RM70. A more straight forward dish that takes up the flavours of sake and soy sauce as seasoning, whilst retaining the original taste of osyter.
Superior Dashi with Seafood Claypot
Enjoy bubbling hot dashi superior that folds in natural sweetness of seafood and vegetables – enoki mushroom, chinese mushroom, prawns, scallop, scallions and tofu. Pretty good portion but since the base is light, it won’t fill up the tummy to the fullest. Just right to warm up the tummy while leaving room for next course.
Sashimi Seafood Rice Bowl Kaisen Donburi
Multiple cubed raw seafood topped over a bed of rice for the carb. Healthy option that does not need extra flavourful gravy that will shadow this fresh indulgence. Just add a minimal swirl of soy sauce to top up some savoury flavour.
Signature Matcha Ice cream with Ogura Cheese Cake
Kaiseki Set B RM69++
Appetizer
Same as kaiseki set A, the second set starts with 3 appetizers in one plate too. Selections may be vary depends on the freshest seasonal ingredients available during the visit.
Sushi & Prawn Tempura
Multi-texture dish, putting together raw salmon and tuna sushi, and prawn tempura that earns our liking over its piping hot, crunchy bites.
Grilled Codfish with Miso Paste
Probably our favourite among all. Flesh is locked with moist and fat, glazed with a layer of miso paste. Enjoy how slightly burnt outer coating over grilling, delivering a delicious, smoky flavour.
Superior Dashi Soup with Chicken Meatball and Konnyyaku
Comparing to Superior Dashi with Seafood Claypot from the previous set, Superior Dasi Soup with Chicken Meatball and Konnyyaku highlights a deeper flavours on the soup, infused with sweetness from the meatball. Just right to have it with konnyyaku.
Salmon Matcha Soup Rice Sake Chasuke
Not everyone will like Chazuke but definitely a worth trying out Japanese traditional dish, similar to our soup in rice but much lighter, cleaner in taste. Matcha soup is poured over rice, topped with seaweed furikake.
Signature Matcha Ice Cream with Ogura Cheesecake
Gyomuyo Matcha Parfait RM 17.90
Despite being full from our Kaiseki Set, Summergirl insisted to try out Kokoro Matcha Parfait, which has receive quite a number of positive reviews among friends. Layer after layer of surprise, towering up green tea, vanilla parfait, red bean, green tea chocolate stick, green tea cake, green tea ice cream, finally finished with whipped cream. The picture says it all. Highly recommended.
Overall, a homey Japanese restaurant that suits everyone, be it couple, friends or family lunch and dinner. Affordable price, friendly service. Just parking can be a hassle here. Suggest to park in Leisure Mall and walk over.
