DeButchery Whisky & Wine Lounge at Publika Solaris Dutamas KL – if perfect steak with a glass of wine is your thing, then this is the place you should look for. The restaurant looks more like a wine bar to us when we first passed by, but it actually has quite a comprehensive menu, covering from beer bites & tapas to main course like pizza, pasta, steak and so forth for proper meals.
DeButchery boasts a modern design with rustic elements, putting together dark wooden shades with exposed bricks wall, concrete floorings, complemented by furnishing in dark and bold red, customized cushion seats and sofa seats at the private dining area.
Al Fungi Bruschetta RM15
Apart from promising list of whisky and wine, food here is worth a mention too. We had our dinner there few weeks back, and glad that everything was decently prepared. Began with Al-Fungi Bruschetta, a popular appetizer that flavoured up garlic bread with rich, creamy toppings, concocted from sauteed mix wild mushrooms and melted mozzarella cheese.
Salted Egg Chicken Strips RM18
Next up we had Salted Egg Chicken Strips, something up to our liking because of Salted Egg! Crispy chicken tender, moderately coated with salted egg yolk, laced with mild spiciness from chilli paddy and unique aroma of curry leaves.
Udang Sambal Spaghetti RM32
Infusing Asian flavours into Western dishes are no longer new in contemporary dining, and now widely celebrated because at many times, these brave concoction turn out to be satisfying, well-loved by many. Take this Udang Sambal Spaghetti which tossed together pasta with sambal sauc, brocolli and spring onion as example, it is everyone’s favourite that night. Thanks to its spicy gravy that packed a punch of flavours, pairing well with spaghetti, better it the noodles can be a little more al-dente.
Smoked Duck Breast RM45
Some mentioned that. We do agree with some of the comments, saying that smoked duck breast in DeButchery has too much fat. But this is how we love it to be like during cheat day – Gorgeous fat layer, adding moist to leaner part to reach for more than just boring bites of breast meat. Dressed with pineapple jam and slices of marinated orange, a brilliant combination to flavour up the overall flavours with sharp fruity, sourness. Served with arugula salad and roast potatoes.
Surf & Turf
Steak lovers, do not leave without sinking your teeth into their ribeye, striploin, beef tenderloin and beef ribs, paired with DeButchery recommended wine. Topped off with grilled king prawns in garlic butter sauce for a taste of ocean, the Surf & Turf enjoyment!
Each beef platter comes with choice of 1 sauce – barbecue relish, creamy garlic, crumbled king island blue cheese, mernda valley mushroom, mint sauce, portugese cream spicy peri-peri, red wine reduction; plus choice of 2 sides -crunchy fries, green beans with caramelized onions & roasted hazelnuts, hand cut onion rings, homemade mash, house garden salad, parmesan potatoes with garlic butter, flat leaf parsley and sea salt flakes.
Chocolate Volcano RM16
Full from main courses but still insisted to end the meal with dessert LOL. To be honest, we didn’t put much expectation to DeButchery Chocolate Volcano initially, as it didn’t impress us physically. We were wrong, it was so delicious!! Rich, gooey chocolate sauce oozing out once cut through, perfect with chocolate cake for warmth, ice cream for cold.
Overall review: Grilled King Prawn from Surf & Turf is awesome, meaty, bouncy and fresh, with a layer of lovely char-grilled smokiness from grill. Chocolate Volcano rounds up the meal greatly. Friendly service, food in reasonable price.
