Congratulations to Ippudo Malaysia on their Grand Menu launching in July! Something new and exciting not only for their signature ramen, but also some other delicious sides dishes that will definitely put you in WOW. Ippudo Pavillion and Ippudo The Gardens-Mid Valley will have the same menu, Ippudo BSC will be slightly different in the selections. Which one is better? Both are good. So check them out.
Pepperdon Edamame RM9
Let’s start with dishes for Ippudo Pavilion and Ippudo The Gardens for this blog post. First, appetizer Pepperdon Edamame. Creative snacks that gives you another option besides chewing on only plain Edamame! Lots of dried chilli, Japanese spice, chopped garlic and olive oil toss into the blanched edamame, adding addictive spicy and pungent kicks. While munching we thought of adding spaghetti into it, confirm will be good. Hahaha.
Hakata Hitokuchi Nigiri RM14
Hand roll served with sliced omelet and sliced basil topped with mentaiko.
Soft Shell Crab Buns RM10
We declared this as our top favourite in Ippudo Grand New Menu 2016! Big fat soft shell crab, deep fried to golden brown and sandwiched within fresh hot steamed bun then served right away. Eat while it is pipping hot, minimize the photography time for this, though we know that you are pretty eager to share a photo of this with your friends.
Open your mouth big, take a deep bite to enjoy the crispy, juicy, fluffy soft texture in one go, further adorned with a touch of savoury sweet sensation from teriyaki sauce. Delicious combination that can make Summergirl give a skip to her Japanaese ramen and order 3 helping of this.
Ippudo Takoyaki RM14
Seeing Takoyaki on Ippudo new menu may be a surprise to us, but still, worth ordering this classic Japanese favourite octopus dumpling with drizzles of takoyaki sauce, topped with handful of bonito flakes for sharing. Ping pong ball size, slightly bigger than those we had back in Osaka, decent in flavour but better if the filling could be firmer.
Salmon Foil Yaki RM20
Spicy ponzu served with steamed salmon and assorted vegetables. Spicy, sourish, with hints of lemon to please. Be careful with the salmon, as they are “boney salmon” LOL.
Karaka Men RM27.90
Most Malaysians love spicy food. From your breakfast nasi lemak to your lunch nasi kandar and midnight curry mee, the trace of curry is everywhere, and “International curry” is widely acceptable here, one of them is no doubt – Japanese curry, Japanese spicy broth noodle and so forth.
At times, there are feedback from customers asking for more spicy ramen broth in their Karaka Ramen, the ramen in spicy broth for Ippudo. So there you go – Ippudo Akashi Ramen with 3 Spicy Level. You can now add more “spicy oomph” into your original tonkotsu broth combined with special spicy miso, mixed with cashew nuts and ground pork.
We tried out Level 1 and Level 3, and prefer the former better. Level 3 is manageable, you’ll get the kick but not too spicy to be honest. It is more intense, deeper in flavour comparing to Level 1 which is more mild, and you get to taste the sweetness of pork bone soup while getting hints spiciness from chilli paste.
Ice Cream Bun RM12.90
The fluffy bun as seen in Soft Shell Crab Sandwich makes a return in the dessert menu, this time in deep fried version. Have it together vanilla and green tea Ice cream served along and hey, it reminds me about the good old days where we had roti bun sandwiched within white square breads during school times. Of course, this is a more refined version with creative twist, more premium ice cream too.
Thanks Ippudo Malaysia for the special food tasting preview. We love the Soft Shell Crab Bun a lot. Make sure you guys try it out too!!
