Sho Kushiage Japanese Restaurant, a new kid in Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall specializes in Tonkatsu, or Japanese Deep Fried Pork Cutlet. This eatery took over the former location of Tokyo Kitchen, opposite to Cold Storage supermarket. Hidden in less foot traffic zone but worth discovered for a taste of Tonkatsu prepared using Sakura Three Yuan Pork coated with fresh bread crumbs, fry in 100% vegetable oil.
What’s so special about third-generation Sakura Three Yuan Pork? It is a type of high quality pork with high disease resistance, strong life force, better feed conversion rate, and considered the best gene.
The more scientific explanation of What is Three Yuan Pork:

Premium Pork Chop Cutlet (RM32.90)
Our favourite goes to the original, top seller Premium Pork Chop Cutlet. Doesn’t look big in portion, but is actually quite filling after finishing all together with vegetables, rice and soup. Thick cut, meaty, tender and juicy, blanketed with golden brown outer layer. Sho Kushiage is prides for using fresh bread crumbs crushed daily instead of pre-deep fried bread crumbs. That said, fresher, less oily Tonkatsu.
The price included also refillable Japanese Rice, shredded cabbage, side dish and miso soup. Free flow, hence definitely a plus point for big eaters. For us, we refill shredded cabbage – fresh, crisp, goes well with roasted sesame sauce.
Sho Kushiage Tonkatsu is best served with their specially selected sesame and Tonkatsu sauce, which is served on each table. Grind 80% of the sesame seeds into powder, mix with pork chop sauce and use as dipping sauce for your Tonkatsu. Tastes great not only as sauce, equally delicious when we added into the fresh shredded cabbage. So aromatic that Summergirl even eat it on its own.

We love the Grilled Half Shell Scallop from the Small Snack menu. Scallop loaded with cream, topped with baked cheese. Creamy but not cloying, helmed with sweetness from scallop. Highly recommended to order for sharing while waiting for your main course to arrive.

Crispy Mango Roll RM8.90
Avocado Unagi Cone RM5.90
Avocado Unagi Cone, a “handroll” sushi that using ice cream cone as replacement for seaweed sheet. Like munching biscuit filled with Japanese rice, avocado and unagi. Dessert in Sho Kushiage may not be impressive in terms of selections and presentation, but manage to score on taste. Thanks chef for recommending Milk Pudding (not in picture hahahaha), so nice that Summergirl had two cups.
