Mango Six, the famous coffee & dessert cafe from Korea has quietly emerged in Malaysia, setting up their first outlet in The Cube, Bandar Puteri Puchong. Definitely not a usual practice for us to drive all the way from KL to Puchong just for a taste of “Mango Juice the Korean Style”, but we did it last Saturday due to sudden craving for sweet treat. We arrived at about 9.30PM, and was really surprise with the super long queue.
Fans of Korean drama should be familiar with Mango six, as the cafe has successfully branded themselves through product placement and filming scenes in few dramas. From Gentleman’s Dignity to The Heirs, plus Trot Lovers, Flower Daughter, Kill Me Heal Me, and more in between. Correct us if we were wrong, as we aren’t die hard fans of oppa. What we remembered from Mango Six was just “Blue Lemonade”, a legendary drink that spread like wildfire after one of the Korean dramas.
We assume customers who visited Mango Six Puchong are partially due to those Korean dramas, some merely for the love of mango-based dessert, or maybe the curiosity to try out a new cafe in the neighbourhood. But whatever the reason is, we see the power of Mango Six Cafe right on the first week of their opening. We waited one hour for our turn to place our order, and another hour to get our drinks. Clearly, short-handed. Summergirl was in the queue for more than an hour and she had been watching the same girl churning out countless cups of Mango Tango, putting up swirls and swirls of whipped cream. Wondering how many hours she has been repeating this. The “see-also-feel-hand-tired” feeling.
Piccolo Latte RM10
Since the waiting time was so long, Summergirl got the chance to read through Mango Six menu thoroughly. LOL. Most items in the cafe are juices, and Mango Juice Series is the best seller. You can opt for pure Mango Juice, or Mango Juice with interesting toppings – Mango & Coconut, Mango & Kiwi, Mango & Melon, Mango & Strawberry, Mango & Watermelon and giant size Mango Tango. Other drinks include Mango Lemonade, Blue Lemonade, Pink Lemonade, Mango Shake, Strawberry Shake, Berry Cream Cheese Shake, Blueberry Banana Shake, Mango Smoothie, Cookie & Cream Frappe, Kiwi Smoothie, Vanilla Frappe, fresh juices, coffee, tea and chocolate. Price range is from RM8 to RM19.
Mango Tango RM18.50
Mango Tango, almost every table has a glass of this. Grande size, layering freshly blended mango, whipped cream, cubed mango and more whipped cream on top. Not too sure if it supposed to be a cold drink, as it was warmth when we sipped on. Very rich, blending 100% real, fresh mango with minimal water (or maybe no?) added to this drink.
Mango Waffle RM16
For food, enjoy Mango Waffle, Fruits Waffle, Mango Baumkuchen, Mix Berries Baumkuchen, Caramel Waffle Honey Toast, Peanut Butter Banana Toast and Strawberry Honey Toast. Limited selections, all in sweet. Tried out Mango Waffle, which showed difference compared to those we had in Chapter One by The Owls Cafe, Inside Scoop, Soft Launch, The Prep Room, etc., you name it.
Instead of crispy outside, airy soft inside texture, Mango Six version is towards dense, fluffy throughout, like pancake. Topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and mango cubes.
Overall review: Mango lovers can give a try to this place, trying out interesting mix of mango juice with strawberry, kiwi, melon or watermelon juice. Service wise, staffs are polite and friendly. They lost our order, causing extra waiting time but is OK, as they fixed it in time after we reminded them. Believe Mango Six Cafe Puchong will get better in their service in near future.
