Soft Launch Cafe & Dessert at Sri Petaling KL – Meet pistachio soft serve ice cream or strawberry waffle here, if these are your favourite sweet treats.
The last time we went to Sri Petaling was a dim sum breakfast at Grand Shanghai Restaurant. In just few months, the amount of newly opened eateries in the area have increased significantly, so many that we fail to catch up – Softserve, Shotlist, Wayne’s Cafe, Poppo Canteen, etc. etc. etc.. Feel like visiting all but ha-ha-ha, wallet is getting thin. (How we wish our parents own a bank. Just kidding. *chuckles* ). Decided to settle down for Soft Launch Cafe, as their Strawberry Waffle picture on Instagram is really, really intrigued. Hands down to all strawberry-related-dessert LOL.
Soft Launch Cafe is located above 103 Coffee Workshop along Jalan Radin Bagus, one of the busiest streets in the area. Spacious cafe, sectioned into three parts – Outdoor area with a touch of lush greenery that allows guests to sit back and unwind; the main dining area has both normal dining tables & chairs, as well as a row of built in bench with upholster and mini round table.
Walk in further and that’s the place we love the most. Classic, elegant long wooden table, with ample of natural daylight flowing in through the ceiling-to-floor window, a section great for photography. We were glad that staffs let us occupied one side of the super huge table, even though there was just two of us.
Fried Chicken Tender RM18
Soft Launch Cafe menu focus on waffle, soft serve, coffee, tea and few caffeine-free beverage, all priced within RM22. There’s also savoury selections, but limited to only Truffle Parmesan Fries, Fried Chicken Tender with Maple Syrup (*this is good!) and Waffle sandwiched with Fried Chicken Tender and Scrambled Egg currently, as the cafe is still in soft launch stage. There may be more dishes coming up to the permanent menu, we believe.
Strawberry Waffle RM18
Strawberry Waffle – The reason that made us drive all the way to Soft Launch Sri Petaling. Crispy, yeasted waffle generously filled with fresh cream, lined up with strawberries and a side of maple syrup. Eat while it is hot,
Best way to eat – Cut a big share of waffle, heaped with fresh cream and strawberries, drizzle some syrup, open your mouth big and have everything in one go! Softness from waffle, creaminess from fresh cream, tanginess from strawberries and sweetness from maple syrup pair really well when concocted together.
We actually started without maple syrup, and found it less satisfying. So Don’t miss out the maple syrup, the sweetness does a great job in enhancing the overall flavours. Other sweet waffle includes soft serve waffle (RM16) and Blueberry Banana Waffle (RM20)
Softserve with Topping RM10
Price is reasonable for a glass of soft serve complete with corn flakes base and berries topping. Diners can opt for Chocolate, Pistachio or a mix of both. We had the mix initially, and found the flavour from chocolate soft serve was overwhelming that we could barely taste the pistachio soft serve. Tried out original version and tasted whole lot more different. Aroma from freshly grounded pistachio was richer this time. Soft Launch Cafe soft serve actually falls on lighter side. That says, less milky, not as dense compared to few other soft serve cafes. Ideal for those who prefer their soft serve this way.
Cappuccino RM10
The cafe takes high concerns over their coffee too, so we had a beautifully prepared cappuccino. For espresso-base coffee, they stick to the classic Black and White. Earl Grey Tea, Ginger & Lemongrass Tea, Chamomile Flower Tea, Ice Lemonade and Chocolate are available too.
