Tonkatsu by Wa Kitchen at Pavillion Kuala Lumpur never fails to impress diners with delicious deep fry breaded meat and seafood, great all the time since its opening in the mall few years ago. Says, Tonkatsu Wa Kitchen serves one of the best Katsu series in KL, it won’t be too wrong though.
From 1st April to 15th May 2016, have more reason to visit Tonkatsu by Wa Kitchen Pavillion KL as the restaurant launches Spring Delight Menu, a special promotion that brings a taste of Spring from Japan with Hanami-inspired Sakura Set Bento and Wagashi Set.
Definitely much needed for us, seeing that we visited Japan during plum blossom, a month earlier than Sakura season. Wallet is thin by now, hence many thanks to Tonkatsu for having this promotion. We can now feel the joy of blooming Sakura by sniffing the scent of this flower from Sakura Tea, and deeper through Sakura Mochi wrapped in Sakura Leaf. Not to forget, the colourful Hanami Box that get us transported to Japan, as if we were sitting under rows of pinkish, beautiful Sakura trees with food, drinks and music.
Hanami Box RM35.80+
As usual, Tonkatsu signature prawn, breaded pork roll with asparagus and onion rings can easily be the highlight. However, at the same time, our interest flows to the bed of rice half-covered with pink colour, floss like topping. Staff explains to us the rice actually resembles Hanami scene, where the pink colour sweet chicken floss are cherry tree blossom, while vegetable stalk lining at the bottom represent green meadow. What a thoughtful creation!!
The bento can actually fit two if you were small eaters. But it was so good that we refused to share. Munch, munch munch, and get ourselves drown into the imaginary world of blooming cherry trees. Suggest to order one each so that you can enjoy to the fullest. Diners can choose to have ala-carte, or make it into Sakura Set at RM43.80+.
Wagashi Set RM14.80+
Every Sakura Set comes with a choice of dessert set, either Full Bloom Set or Sakura Tea Set. Full Bloom Set consists of Sakura Ice Cream, Sakura Mochi and Fresh Strawberry; while Sakura Tea Set put together Sakura Tea and Sakura Mochi. You can order separately at RM14.80+ per set. We personally love the Sakura Tea Set more, as it is pretty interesting to have hints of preserved Sakura flower saltiness in the tea.
Hire Katsu + Rosu Katsu Zen RM34
Besides the Sakura Set, we couldn’t resist but to order a set of Hire Katsu + Rosu Katsu Zen too, as we miss their deep fried pork cutlet a lot. Yeah, gorgeous! A Friday dinner couldn’t be better by sinking our teeth onto these crispy, perfectly deep-fried to golden brown outer exterior, followed by juicy, meaty pork cutlet chews. Stress free with good food. LOL.
