Minori Japanese Restaurant at Royale Chulan Hotel, Mutiara Damansara is prides for their fine, exquisite Japanese cuisine, continuously earning reputation from the public since opening, with awards from Malaysia Tatler and MIGF event.
While keeping the philosophy and concept of serving traditional Japanese food, Minori also put together modern fusion touch in their dishes for more appealing, satisfying flavours. We went on a gastronomy journey for Minori new Omakase menu last weekend, and tossed down a couple of fresh sake imported from Japan.
Appetizer of the Day- Yum Tofu and Grilled Seasoning Eggplant with Crab Sauce Ginger Fervor with Mountain Kaviar
Our lunch began with Appetizer of the day- bite size yum tofu and grilled seasoning eggplant placed over a bed of slimy, foamy crab sauce akin to Chinese Egg Drop Soup, but chilled. Mild saltiness cut through in between, contributed by caviar topped over.
Steamed egg on Organic Wasabi Leaf and Asari Shell “Ohitashi” Yuzu Orange Flavour
Second dish was hot, better. Looked like a small cup of soup, but was just half filled with it. Dig deeper and scooped up extra soft, melt-in-mouth Chawanmushi at the bottom. Better if the Chawanmushi could be firmer. Couldn’t really trace Yuzu Orange flavour though.
White Miso Marinated Yellow Tail Fish “Scallop Yaki” served with Vinegar Tomato, Wasabi Lotus Roots with Sweet Potato
While fish should be the limelight in this dish, Summergirl on the other hands, give higher credits to the vinegar tomato, wasabi lotus roots and sweet potato sided along. They are sweet, but lovely, each owns a texture to please – crispy, starchy, tangy, juicy.
Nimon-Tender Steamed Beef Tongue with Special Sauce
When tofu and steamed beef tongue beautifully laid together, you get to enjoy double softness in one mouthful. May not be the favourite of everyone, but Summerkid love the beef tongue a lot, finishing two helpings of it.
Shokuji-Scallop Porridge Minori Style Fried Cherry Blossom Prawn
For few times in other Japanese restaurants’ Omakase meal, we were served with garlic rice or chazuke. First time getting a twist on carb dish – Okayu, or Japanese porridge in Minori. Surprisingly, it was the best among the rest, thanks to those tiny, crispy and salty Cheery Blossom Prawns that heighten up the entire flavours of this pale looking congee.
Dessert-Warabi Mochi and Green Tea Parfait
Dessert for Minori Omakase was the most popular, all-time-favourite green tea parfait, topped with warabi mochi and red bean paste.
