The Pantry KL Gourmet Cafe at Lorong Kurau, Bangsar KL reminds us about Cultura Cafe located along the same row last time, which has now been replaced with Pink Belly Restaurant. We love their Zakka-style vintage shop front, complete with homey, moderately-decorated interior in soft colour theme.
The cafe was in brisk business during our brunch visit on Valentine’s Day, hence not much environment photos could be taken. So, get the focus goes back on food served in The Pantry KL. There’s different menu for breakfast/brunch and for lunch onwards. We were there early so selections are limited to Egg Benedicts, Egg Royale, The Pantry Big Breakfast, Eggs Florentine, Croissant and so forth.
Eggs Benedict RM22
Variations aren’t fancy, leaning to classic side. Mainly poached egg on bread or portobello mushroom, sandwiched with either smoked salmon, turkey ham or spinach & melted cheddar cheese. Price from RM22 to RM35 for average portion, except for croissant which you can get below RM15.
Not much surprise on the taste. It is Egg Benedict afterall. Standard gooey, runny egg yolk oozed out from harden egg white, flowing over brioche bun and turkey ham, blending well with creamy Hollandaise sauce with a tangy touch.
Valentine’s Day Special Set RM25
Tried out The Pantry KL Valentine’s Day Special Set that put together a cup of Rose Latte, Rose Macaron and their signature Rose & Raspberry Croissant. Sadly to say, Rose Macaron is the only better one among all. For Rose Latte, we personally felt that it was over-infused with flavours of rose, not a good match with their coffee.
Rose & Raspberry Croissant is a great idea, and we like the sugary sweet topping that carries floral aroma. But it could be better with more shatter-crisp outer layer. While for the inner texture, we felt like munching on a donut.
Flat White RM12
The Pantry KL uses PIF Blend (Pay it Forward Blend) from KL famous cafe cum roaster Pulp by Papa Palheta for their coffee. Other beverage choices includes 100% pure fresh fruit juice, Harney & Sons Fine Tea, Soda Water and Valrhona Chocolate drink. All priced within RM15.
Overall, a cafe with comfortable environment, very friendly service but for food and coffee, OK but we actually expect it to be better. Maybe the place is still new, or perhaps we should go for lunch menu.
