Hail ‘s Softserve Ice Cream at Damansara Uptown – We would say that this dessert cafe serves interesting flavours for soft serve, but taste wise, with room of improvement. Worth visiting for their pink peppercorn soft serve ice cream, despite not the best in Klang Valley.
Thoughtfully designed interior, with shades of blue and white as theme colour, squarish shapes in different sizes for their walls tiles, floorings and shelves elements. Colourful decorations to complete, the entire ambience in Hails Softserve is generally lively, filled with cheerful energy within calmness.
Soft serve ice cream takes the limelight here, but you can indulge in two flavours currently – Hails Soft Serve Signature Pink Peppercorn (RM8.50) and Seasonal (RM9.50) . Have them in single flavour or twist (RM9.50), which combines both together in a cup or cone.
Diners can choose to have them plain, or add more bites by ordering Hail’s Premium Combo, namely Nom Nom Nom RM14 (crunchy feuilletine flakes, langue de chat cookies); Nyonya Delight Melaka Snow RM14 (caramalized gula melaka, sago pearl, coconut snow): Mister Coco RM16 (dark chocolate crisp pearl, half chocolate pretzel, moist chocolate cloud cake), Lemon Pie RM16 (lemon curd, vanila crumbs, meringue star cookies); J-Pop RM17 ( green tea crumble, green tea marshmallow, Hail’s salted caramel popcorn).
We had a try on Twist in cup, with premium combo Nyonya Delight Melaka. As explained by Hail’s Soft Serve, peppercorn is a type of dried berry, wrapping in sweet, fruity taste with minty, peppery after taste. We did taste a bit of minty flavour, but was pretty pale overall.
Current Seasonal flavour of the month in Hail’s Softserve – Roasted Teh Tarik fared much better. Intense flavour of teh tarik in every spoonful, aromatic and hints of burnt sweetness. Just, better if it could be creamier, milkier.
Patrons visiting for more filling dessert can go for selections like Brown Rice Hotcakes (fluffy hotcake with brown rice syrup, berries, seeds, chantilly cream)l; Carrots Are Divine ( Moist carrot cake with fresh carrots, granny smith apples, raisin, walnut, almond; topped with cream cheese buttercrean, candies nuts, carrot strips, blueberry and strawberries); Mcdreamy Pavlova ( crispy meringue with chantilly cream, berries, emon curd and homemade beetroot marshmallow); Warm Chocolate Lava Tart ( gooey chocolate with crumbly tart, added with hazelnut, vanilla crumble, moist chocolate cloud cake). Didn’t order any, as it is quite expensive with price between RM20 till RM24, due to the use of high quality ingredients imported from Italy.
Coffee here is quite decent, using coffee blends of Yigarcheffe and Guatemala. Latte, cappuccino americo, long black, mocha and flat white for the classic espresso-based, and few tea choices like Lemon Tea, Camomile Tea, Breakfast Tea and Earl Grey to sum up Hail’s beverage menu.
Comment: Hail’s Soft Serve Ice Cream is a bit too mild for our liking. Their special flavours shines brightly in this sweet treat. However, personally feel that, perhaps creamier, richer consistency can put the softserve into better texture.
