Was in the website of Hungry Go Where Malaysia one day, browsing through some potential restaurants around Klang Valley to visit and accidentally came across one of their new features – Book a Table with Hungry Go Where.
Very convenient, and we decided to book a Saturday dinner with The Copper at Menara Shell Kuala Lumpur.
The Copper shines as a hidden gem in KL, offering modern European cuisine with strong Mediterranean influences and has earned praises from many diners. This is our first time entering Menara Shell, a building in the vicinity of KL Sentral, NU Sentral Shopping Mall and few well-known hotels. Follow the direction to 5th floor, and be ready to indulge in The Copper ‘s delicious dishes.
Very spacious restaurant, exudes different atmosphere during daytime and at night. For breakfast and lunch, enjoy bright and energetic ambience with lots of natural sunlight sheds through; during dinner time, The Copper turns to be a romantic dining spot, suitable for couples, as well as families and friends gathering.
Charcoal Grilled Avacado & Calamari RM20
Menu is simple, covering small plates, main courses, dessert and drinks within four pages. Everything seems promising and reasonably priced, from favourite selections like Shakshuka, Mushroom Aglio Olio Pasta to The Copper must-have grilled items such as Charcoal Grilled Avacado & Calamari, Charcoal Grilled Spring Chicken, Charcoal Grilled Steak, Charcoal Grilled Lamb and Pira Oven Mushroom.
Pira Oven Mushroom RM22
While our friends love The Copper Shashuka, we get hooked with their Pira Oven Mushroom more. Charcoal roasted porcini & assorted mushrooms, truffle oil, roasted cheese, onion puree nestled in casserole dish, finished with a cracked egg baked to the right timing for alluring, runny egg yolk.
White Fish RM39
Pan-seared white fish with egg plant, zucchini, vanilla potatoes, served over a bed of bois boudran sauce, which highly said to be an excellent company to fish dishes.
Charcoal Grilled Spring Chicken RM30
Not much surprise from the Charcoal Grilled Spring Chicken, for it is tender and juicy by standard. What’s noteworthy would be the mustard seed sauce that managed to enhance the overall flavours with pungent sweetness, and apparently we tasted faint hint of “hoi sin” sauce like umami-ness. Served with spicy corn, simple salad.
Charcoal Grilled Lamb RM60
Our top favourite main course in The Copper goes to Charcoal Grilled Lamb, a well-executed dish that deserved double applauses. Extra rich and delicate texture, tender soft when cut through. Served with spiced yougurt, arugula salad, homemade pickles, sweet & sour dressing.
Charcoal Grilled Steak RM59
Charcoal Grilled Steak in medium doneness, placed over a bed of nut-thickened Romesco puree, sweet soy vinaigrette, roasted onion and polenta chips. Started to like how The Copper putting extra effort in preparing the side dishes instead of just throwing large amount of fries to complete. Especially addicted to their crispy at the outside, melting soft at the inside Polenta Chips.
Mushroom Aglio Olio RM28
Noodle choices in The Copper are limited to only Mushroom Aglio Olio and Putanesca Pasta. We tried out the former, and glad that it tasted good, though simple. Suitable for diners who prefer Aglio Olio Pasta which is mild in spiciness.
Churros RM15
Crispy exterior, fluffy inside churros with wonderful vanilla chantilly cream, and Valrhona chocolate sauce. So good that we almost want to order a second helping if stomach space allowed.
Valrhona Chocolate Mousse RM12
Checked out another dessert – Valrhona Chocolate Mousse. Beautifully presented , putting together Valrhona mousse, salted pineapple meringue, fluid orange gel and mint for tangy sweet sensation. This is really nice. Highly recommended. Our suggestion, even if you are not interested to have full dinner here, do come for their dessert.
