Miru Dessert Cafe – a new dessert restaurant in Damansara Uptown specializes in Japanese-style Shibuya Honey Toast, Frozen Yogurt Drink, and more. To be truth, the first thing that drives us to visit Miru Cafe is the shop logo that outlines a charming little girl, which Summergirl called as “Little Red Riding Hood in White Attire”. She can’t help but staring at that girl everyday in Facebook and Instagram, yearning to go. OK la, OK la, Summerkid brought her there in the end. So we guess she is Miru? No idea. But certainly cute.
We dropped by on the second day of their opening, having no luck to try out any toast or froyo as it was all sold out. It was 4.30PM that time. By now, we believe Miru Dessert Cafe should have able to produce more thick toasts to cater the demands. Still, we are afraid to hear ” Sorry, Honey Toast already finished” again. We planned our time and arrived on 2.30PM last week. (Kiasu-ness). Surprisingly, it was fully occupied, except outdoor area.
Miru Dessert Cafe ‘s interior reminds us Softsrve Cafe nearby, very similar, just different wooden shades and arrangement of furnishing. Anyway, this is not important as what we look forward more in Miru is the Honey Toast, which many claims that the taste is akin to the famous After You Honey Toast in Bangkok.
Shibuya Honey Toast RM16
Only sweet food is available on Miru menu currently (except those with cheese), listing down 8 types of Honey Toast- Shibuya Honey Toast, Matcha Toast, Nutty Toast, Pandan Coconut Toast, Cheddar Cheese Toast, Chocolate Strawberry Toast, Hazelnut Toast and Chocolate Banana Toast; 3 types of froyo – Tangy Peachy, Frozen Mango, Very Berry; 2 extra desserts – Chocolate Brownies, Chocolate Lava Cake; coffee, hot tea and iced tea. Glad that everything is reasonably priced below RM20.
Since we just had our lunch at Annie1 Menglembu Wantan Mee, we ordered only Signature Shibuya Honey Toast and Peach Froyo to sample. Miru Shibuya Honey Toast is very simple, classic version, no fancy colourful toppings, but doesn’t disappoint. Thick toast is crispy at edges, fluffy at the center but not airy type, thickly spread with homemade butter at each cut of bread, further topped with two scoops of vanilla ice-cream. Finished with a pump of fresh cream at the side.
If you came here for teatime, not carrying a stomach full to the neck, it won’t be a problem to finish the entire Honey Toast at your own. It isn’t too cloying, too buttery or too huge in portion. Add some syrup, allowing it to infused into the toast, blending with buttered bread within, forming a better flavour, and texture. Some says that it is good without any syrup, but we prefer to have more syrup drizzled on it.
Tangy Peach Froyo Shake RM16
Taste wise, Tangy Peach Froyo Shakie is a little sourish at the first sip, with creamy sweetness slowly developed as we continue drink on. Filled up peach, berries. Refreshing, but can be filling if you empty the whole glass without sharing. We saw newly launched Lychee Froyo (RM18) at the payment counter when footing our bill. Next time maybe.
Miru Dessert Cafe serves Jasmine Tea for FREE to all guests. Light and mild, great after sweetness overloaded dessert time.
UPDATE October 2016: Miru Dessert Cafe is now opened in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, replacing Coffea Coffee. Right next to Milkcow Softserve Ice Cream. KL folks, save your travelling time and enjoy delicious honey toast, kakigori, froyo shake and more right in the city.
