Le Bread Days at SS2, Petaling Jaya sounds more like a hipster cafe with full-fledge breakfast and brunch menu to us initially. That says, French Toast, Egg Benedict, American Big Breakfast with a cup of long black or cappuccino coffee kind of eatery. However, after browsing through their Facebook, we found out Le Bread Days main focus is actually breads and pastries. Wide array of these baking goodness serves from morning till evening, with a small area for dine in.
You may ask, what’s so special about a bakery cafe, when there are countless out there – Le Pont Boulangerie, Huckleberry, Bowery Petit, Tour Les Jour, Der Backmeister, Touche, Croisserie, Tommy Le Baker, Kenny Hills Bakers, Tedboy, and the list goes on, increasing day by day. Because Le Bread Days has something interesting to us- Molten Egg Yolk Custard Croissant 流沙蛋黃牛角麵包.
Le Bread Days Signature Molten Egg Yolk Custard Croissant RM6.90+
Imagine warm, yellowish, gooey, aromatic molten egg yolk custard flowing out as you munch through freshly baked, golden brown croissant that is shatter-crisp at the outside, buttery at the inside. So yummy. This reason is already enough to make us pay a visit to Le Bread Days.
Upon reaching, we saw Le Bread Days bakery cafe lines up more than just Molten Egg Yolk Custard Croissant on their croissant series. Cheesy Cheese Croissant, Peanut Butter Croissant and Almond Custard Croissant are proudly presented too. Tempted to try out more but Summerkid had just recovered from food poisoning so we ordered only the best seller Molten Egg Yolk, German Cheese Egg Tart and Strawberry Cheese Croissant.
Strawberry Cheese Croissant RM4.20+
Light, sweet cream cheese and halved strawberries sandwiched within a mini size croissant. A good pairing of refreshing fruitiness with pleasing creaminess. Just, croissant is not as crisp as our Molten Egg Yolk Custard Croissant which was heated up before served. Hence, both the outer and inner layers are soft, too chewy, a little too flat in texture.
German Cheese Egg Tart RM3.50+
Not sure if we should put the German Cheese Egg Tart into the tray at first, but glad that we did. It is an awesome tart! Love the crust, not too crumbly, holding seductive stuffing. Wonderful texture lies between creamy, mellow soft egg filling with a thin layer of sweet caramelized sugar on top, like a creme brulee – the clear winner.
Strawberry Danish, Peach Danish, Cream Cheese Roll Chocolate Danish, Sausage Danish in Le Bread Days look promising too. Classic buns such as Chocolate Chip Bun, Whole Meal Walnut Bun, Caramel Walnut Loaf, Almond Bun, Butter Bun, Parmesan Cheese Stick, Long Cheese Sausage Roll are ideal for take away. Diners who wish to have meat-stuffed sandwich can make a choice on Smoked Cheese Chicken Panini, Curry Chicken Panini, Black Pepper Chicken Panini, Tuna Croissant, Teriyaki Chicken Croissant, BBQ Chicken Vinenna Bread Sandwich, or Egg Mayo Vienna Sandwich. Limited choices but all reasonably priced within RM15.
Mocha RM10
Flat White RM10
The cafe ‘s breads and pastries go really well with their coffee. Flat white, cappuccino, latte, mocha and even flavoured latte (hazelnut, irish, caramel) are all RM10 in price. Add RM0.50 for take out, RM1 for ice and RM1 for extra espresso shot. British Breakfast Tea, Chamomile Dream Tea, Lemon Ginger Mint Tea, Earl Grey Lavender are some of the tea available. And not to forget, Le Bread Days also brought in gelato from Gelatimo to give some happy scoops. Pair it with croissant for RM9. Children love the ice cream!
Comments: Le Bread Days is a cheerful neighbourhood bakery cafe, staffs are very friendly even though busy, occasionally humming along with the background music. It was full house when we walked in and after waiting for a while, one of the staffs noticed us. She was so nice in helping us to get a table. Few seconds later another staff (the lady boss? Not too sure but is a pretty barista) came over and ask if we mind having high tables, then almost wanted to carry in from outside for us. A small gesture of kindness that we appreciate a lot. Thank you *bow*. Obviously very much better than the arrogant service at Bowery Petit TTDI. Coffee is much better than expected. Egg Yolk Custard Croissant aka Lao Sha Croissant and German Egg Tart is the MUST TRY! Will go back for more! And again, thanks for the warmth service.
