To make CAFFA 2015 a more meaningful festival, a new component is added in, named as ART Project. The ART project is a CAFFA initiative to support local artists and designers by putting together several events in collaboration with Artemis Art Gallery. A great move, as this creates an accessible platform for the new artists, photographers and designers to interact, present their work to the public.
This time, ART Project hosts an exhibition by renowned artist, Justin Y, a Malaysian-born, Hong Kong base visual artist, who is also a self-taught artist that is famous for using his fingers to create spectacular works of art, emotionally charged by his cumulative travelling around the world.
He has travelled far and wide, from ancient cities and palaces to deep-sea nature reserves, deserts, snow-topped mountains and down the valley, soaking up the wonders of all places he had walked through. Hence, his work of art are no doubt, an honest reflection of his experience.
CAFFA 2105 is prides to have Justin Y to do a live- demo at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 12, at White Box, MAP@Publika. From a pure white canvas base to a colourful artistic end product, which he named as “Celebration of Diversity”, the fingerpainter channels lots of vibrant colours, energy, cherry and hope into this abstract painting.
As part of the Art Project, Artemis Art has also presented Young Art Award personally to Dedy Sufriadi, on Saturday, September 12, at White Box, MAP@Publika. His artwork, Burning Series: Eat, Love and Art #2, was judged the best among the five finalists in Young Art Taiper 2015. Following the award presentation, Dedy also shared his journey as a visual artist, as well as provide us with a broad overview of the Indonesian contemporary art scene.
Weather was super hot and hazy, we hopped over to Freshy Freeze opposite to The Sound Stage, The Square for some ice-cream to chill down. Freshy Freeze is originated from Thailand, and we called it “Teppanyaki-inspired ice cream”, seeing the way they prepared their ice cream. No, you don’t get them scoop pre-frozen ice cream, but a more photography-worthy process.
They will first stir-well the ice cream mix, then pour them over a “grilling pan” and start “cooking” them. The liquid will slowly turn into solid form as the “stir-frying” plus “flipping” continues. After few minutes, violaa! Your “Freshly Freeze” ice cream is ready! So fun.
Freshy Freeze offers 4 flavours in CAFFA 2015, which is Coffee Toffee, Belgian Chocolate, Japanese Green Tea and Cookies n’ Cream. We love the Belgian Chocolate the most, extra rich, creamy and chocolaty. Cookies n’ Cream is equally good too, added with biscuit crunch for more bites.
