Wild Sheep Chase at Taman Desa KL may be just another new cafe to any of the cafe hoppers or dessert lovers out there, but for owners of this charming place, it means more than so. We came by to try out Wild Sheep Chase legendary soufflé on their soft opening day, and surprised with the full house.
The whole lot of shops along Jalan 1/109E was rather hidden and quiet on weekend, yet Wild Sheep Chase is so busy. A total contrary to the dead scene downstairs. No shop sign currently. We went around looking for the lot number 6-1 and when we almost wanted to give up, we looked up and saw stretch of large windows with “cafe sort of light bulbs hanging from the ceiling”. So we walked up the steep, long staircase, hoping we were on the right track. Summerkid continued to mumble behind, asking : ” Wah..so “san kah la” (deserted) .You sure got cafe here de mah?” Yeap, there is. Conclusion: Wild Sheep Chase is above Pusat Latihan MBAM (Take the staircase next to it), next to Restaurant New Peng Wah, one shop row away from 99 supermart.
Open from 12PM through 8PM, with only 5 food items and 6 beverage selections on Wild Sheep Chase temporary menu, the cafe is considered successful to have customers walking in every 10 to 20 minutes. Short queue on and off, and sometimes the pretty lady owner had to apologize for the short of seats with “I-am-super-sorry-but-we-are-now-full-house” cute look.
Minimalist clean with most decorations on the coffee counter. Nothing overloaded. Imagine an empty space, wooden floorings, white walls, filled with wooden tables and chairs in uneven arrangement. Sofa at the end corner, occupied all the time. That’s it. By now, we see the change of cafe interior – Simple is the new black.
Earl Grey Milk Tea RM10
A switch from our usual caffeine fix. Popular Earl Grey tea as the base, heaped with beautifully frothed milk, topped with a swirl of honey and sprinkle of lemon zest. Unexpectedly delectable. Love the faint hint of tea aroma coupled with milky goodness, sweetness of honey followed by, pairing well with citrus-y bites. In case you still need a cuppa, Wild Sheep Chase still has black coffee, ice black coffee, milk coffee and ice milk coffee to please.
Vanilla Soufflé RM15
Do not leave the cafe without having Vanilla Soufflé. Homemade with love using farm eggs and real vanilla, served with grapefruit sorbet and your choice of orange sauce or osmanthus maple syrup. Puffy once it reached our table, light and foamy to the palate with medium creaminess, pronounced egg flavour. Have together with tangy orange sauce for refreshing twist. SOOoo SEDAP.
We wanted to try out their Honestly Devilish Chocolate Molten Lava Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream (RM21), Waffle with Earl Grey Whipped Cream and Osmanthus Maple Syrup (RM13) but it would be too much for two of us. Everything is freshly made upon order so do allow 20-30 minutes for baking. Delicious desserts are worth all the waiting. So be patient.
For savoury food, there’s Ciabtta Ham & Cheese Sandwich served with a scoop of Egg Mayo and Grilled Vegetables (RM20) and Ciabatta Salmon & Mascarpone Sandwich served with a scoop of Egg Mayo and Grilled Vegetables (RM22). Suggest to visit in group so that you can try out everything on Wild Sheep Chase menu.
In short, a lovely place for high quality made-to-order dessert, a less seen trends in KL & PJ nowadays. No more prepared-ahead-cakes lined up on dessert counter. We don’t know any of the staff in Wild Sheep Chase cafe, but we are glad that they are doing what they really love. Turning dreams into reality needs a lot of hard work, and we certainly see the determination in them. Wishing them a better business ahead. Will be back for their Earl Grey Milk Tea, it tastes really good!
