With 28 Fireplace Cafe joining in, Persiaran Ampang is now merrier, lining up a more complete range of good restaurants in different cuisines to fit the stomach of neighbourhood nearby. You can visit Vintry Ampang for marvellous pork ribs and wine pairing, La Risata for Italian offerings, Jay’s for premium cold cuts & meats, Las Carretas Restaurant for Mexican food indulgence, Brussels Beer Bar for drinks, Soo Kee Chinese Restaurant for beautiful honey- glazed char siew, Restoran Teochew & Hakka for comforting Teo Chew Porridge. From Chinese delights to Western fares, these familiar restaurants, you name it.
We have very frequent visit to Soo Kee, Vintry and Brussels for proper meals but sometimes, we realize there isn’t much cafes within the radius of our staying place, which we can hop by for coffee, and to work quietly. Greenhouse by Muir, Green Tomato Cafe, Espresso Lab are the only few, hence we are quite happy when we discovered 28 Fireplace one day when we pass by Off Jalan Ampang.
We dropped by last weekend, receiving warmth welcome by a few young, energetic entrepreneurs who are passionate about coffee, humbly paving their way to own a cafe. It comes true when 28 Fireplace Cafe opens their door to public in mid of August, same row with Vintry Ampang, La Risata Restaurant.
Blue-white front facade with mini hexagonal mosaic floor tiles, accompanied by huge window glasses. Outdoor seating is windy at night, but we prefer to slip into the air-conditioned indoor area for more chilly coffee time. Simple design, with iconic fireplace at the center, well-representing the cafe’s name. We love the long table resides at the end corner of the cafe, feels like home.
28 Fireplace menu covers coffee, sandwiches,salad and cakes. Just light meals currently. The cafe takes pride on their coffee, using beans from Cottle Coffee, South Merbourne Australia. Try them on espresso, black coffee, coffee with milk. Other than common flat white, latte, cappuccino, single origin cold drip coffee and filtered coffee are available too.
Non coffee lovers can have tea, hot chocolate and fruit juices. Overall, 28 Fireplace is not a cafe with full-fledge menu for heavy breakfast, brunch or dinner, more to a place to chill, for friends gathering and undisturbed time to yourself. Not sure if they would have big breakfast, egg benedict, french toast, pasta and all sorts in future, but we do hope they will.
