This July 2015, Iketeru proudly presents a series of ala-carte Unagi menu, as well as Iketeru Unagi Course Set to celebrate the best season for Unagi in Japan – Summer time. During Summer, Japan weather is hot and humid, causing lost of appetite. Apparently, Unagi is said to be able to boost energy, help to relieve heat and stimulate appetite, hence making it one of the essential meal components in this period.
But of course, Malaysia is surrounded by unbeatable heat all year round, hence the arrival of Unagi Promotion in Iketeru Hilton KL is more than welcomed, even though just for a month. In order to guarantee the best quality Unagi for customers, Iketeru imports freshwater eels twice a week from the Miyazaki prefecture in Kyushu Island, Japan, a place renowned for premium Unagi.
Iketeru Chef Ricky skillfully crafted the menu based on traditional eel cooking method preference in Japan, highlighting Unaijyu-style, grilled and brushed with Kabayaki sauce or Nagoya-style Hitsumabushi where the skin is crispy and appealingly aromatic.
Iketeru Unagi Set Menu 池輝うなぎ懐石お献立 features a 7-course dishes, starting from eel appetizer followed by sashimi, simmered fish, grilled fish, fried dish, rice dish and dessert to end. Priced at RM350nett per person :

We sampled few of the dishes, and especially enjoyed Japanese Omelet with Eel and Maki Roll enveloped within bamboo leaf.
The former folds in pleasing juiciness, enhanced with slimmy, melt-in-the mouth texture of Unagi while the later scores for the good marriage of loosely rolled sushi rice, Unagi and faint hints of bamboo leaf.
Apart from that, Iketeru has just introduced few new dishes to their menu. Broiled sliced salmon Carpaccio style, Steamed cod fish with rice wine and Teppanyaki grilled lamb rack are some of the highly recommended delights.
Go for Steamed cod fish if you loved savoring natural, original sweetness of cod fish.
Tuck into Teppanyaki lamb packed with distinct gaminess and smokiness from grill if you are in the mood for something meaty, plenty of chews, flavours loaded.
End the meal with dessert platter which is not within Iketeru Unagi promotional menu, namely Vanilla wrapped with mochi, chocolate & cheese ice cream.
Can’t tell which one is the best, as all three tasted so good. Love the creaminess of vanilla filling, chewiness of mochi, deep chocolaty of dark chocolate and ice cream wrapped with cheese aroma to every bit.
