Wanderlust at Solaris Mont Kiara KL, a cafe, restaurant cum coffee place that we visited by coincidence, because Summergirl had been mumbling ” I want coffee I want cake I want dessert I want waffle” for the whole evening, and she came across the new opening of Wanderlust through Facebook halfway nagging.
Since not sure which cafe to drop by, we decided to try out Wanderlust, only to know later that Wanderlust has taken over the location of Departure Lounge Solaris Mont Kiara. Or more correctly to say, Wanderlust is the rebranding of Departure Lounge, marking a new journey for this brand to reach for a better, fresher dining experience to all diners.
Located in between Brewmen and Villa Ju Bakery Cafe (Nabe Bakery), Wanderlust can be easily spotted with its blue-white shade roof, and charming shop sign in blue. We love the paper plane symbol which believed will soon becoming the iconic sign for Wanderlust. Fly away~~chase for your dreams~~
Wanderlust emphasizes on space, minimal in decor yet brilliantly create style within simplicity. We were there after dinner, so we skipped the savoury menu and went straight to dessert and coffee, which are equally promising. Coffee is always the limelight in Departure Lounge, hence having a cuppa in their brand new Wanderlust is a must too.
Wanderlust serves brunch from 11AM till 6PM, dinner from 6PM till 10PM. We only managed to browse through the dinner menu. So for dinner, here are the few dishes you can check out, which all put together interesting mix and match for lively flavours: Slow cooked beef burger with apple, carrot, fried free rande egg (RM25), Australian Beef Short Ribs (RM35), Flaming Wings with hot sauce and spiced watermelon (RM23), Salmon Steak with Squid Ink Pasta (RM32), Shredded Duck Confit with Tagliatalle Pasta & Tomato Sauce (RM28), etc..
Flat White RM12
For Wanderlust drinks section, diners can count on coffee (using Wanderlust blend roasted by Common Man Coffee Roaster), hot chocolate, tea, 100% pure juices and power juices, starting from RM8 for ristretto, espresso and long black; RM10 for cappuccino, piccolo and macchiato; RM12 for latte, flat white and additional RM1 for mocha; RM12 onwards for juices. We are targeting on the Single Origin Choc (RM15) using 70% cacao from Bahia Region , Brazil in our next visit.
Wanderlust is still in soft opening stage, and there are just four signature desserts currently – Sago with Hazelnut Brittle (RM18), Double Espresso, hot cream; Match Pudding with Rice Pops, cookie crumble, whipped cheese (RM15); apple crumble cheesecake (RM15); beeramisu (RM18). Hoping for more choices adding to the dessert list in future.
Beeramisu RM18
Despite the limited selection, we were happy with our Beeramisu – smooth, rich mascarpone cheese interlayers with lady fingers, infused with irish cream and stout, garnished with chocolate shavings. A tad too sweet for our liking, but goes well with coffee.
