S’mocha at Espression 8 Cafe Bandar Sunway is definitely photography worthy.
Can’t deny, every new cafe or restaurant needs to have certain signature food or drink that makes it worth visit, same goes to Espression 8 Cafe. Opened for just less than a month, their eye-catchy S’mocha has been spread around social media platform, especially Instagram.
Situated behind myBurgerLab Sunway (mBL:HQ), Espression8 Cafe can be easily missed out due to the not-so-obvious shop sign. Perhaps a bigger one would be better. In the meantime, just spot for a shop with green shop front, beside Checkpoint Camera Shop, same row with Underground Societe.
Opening from 10.30AM to 10.30PM Mon-Sat, Espression 8 Cafe opening hours are long enough to great students from Sunway University Collage, as well as residents and working crowd nearby for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner.
Service is extra friendly, more than just smiles and greetings. Staffs pay attention to your needs – serving small plates for sharing without us requesting for it, come by on and off, asking if everything is OK, anything else we need. Thumbs up, hope they can keep up the good service at all time, during off and offpeak hours.
Sweet Chocolate Pancake RM9.90
Food menu is very extensive, ranging from all-day-breakfast to pasta, main course such as chicken chop, burgers, salmon steak, lamb racks, rib eye, soup, salad, cakes, and light snacks. Espression8 cafe chef’s recommendation includes Chicken Wrap Benedict, Espression Blueberry Pancake, Spaghetti Gamberoni, Marinated Chicken Breast and Fungi Trio Truffle Soup. Everything is reasonably priced, suitable for students, pocket-friendly for those who are working.
Spaghetti Seafood Creamy RM15.90
RM15.90 for a hearty plate of pasta generously loaded with mussels, prawns and squid, there is nothing to complain. Small note for diners who can’t take spicy food, this Espression8 spaghetti kicks in medium spiciness. We love the spicy twist within creaminess, and while tucking in, sudden thought came across: Add in some curry leaves, will the pasta get more aromatic, with more lively flavours?
S’Mocha RM11
S’Mocha, Espression 8 must-order drink. Basically mocha (espresso + milk + chocolate), but turned entirely into a more charming looking hot drink by topping them with mini marshmallow, drizzled with chocolate sauce. Mild in chocolaty, with a touch of sweetness from marshmallow as they melted slowly.
Sweetness level is alright for us, even though some commented that it was sweet (oh-well, we have sweet tooth). Putting aside sweetness, we actually hoping for richer, milkier mouthfeel in this drink. Also, Summergirl will be more than happy if the marshmallow could be replaced with real S’more (*think about the mellow softness of toasted marshmallow with chocolate and graham crackers!) bits. Hehe.
Flat White RM9.00
Other than S’Mocha, drinks in Espression8 Cafe are generally common, focuses on coffee like cappuccino, latte, flat white, tea, frappes and iced drinks. Flat white isn’t the best we have tried, but liking towards taste of coffee is personal, differ from one to another, so we leave the comment for your own visit.
Comments: Reasonable price, good service, cozy ambience, plenty of choices on menu, decent food – Espression8 Cafe has its own winning points. But since it is still new, some hits & misses are acceptable. We believe they will go better soon!
