Softsrve Ice Cream & Dessert at Damansara Uptown Petaling Jaya is drawing another ice-cream fever across the town after Milkcow and Inside Scoop. Situated two doors away from Wondermilk, same row with The Good Batch, Softsrve Ice Cream doesn’t have a shopsign currently. So just look out for Capital Nasi Dagang and Tiramisu Cafe in the mean time if you planned to visit, as Softsrve is just between them.
Paid Softsrve Ice Cream a visit during their first week of opening and to our surprise, the crowd was beyond our expectation. Almost full house during afternoon, business was good despite the limited soft serve ice cream choices on the menu.
Currently, there are only 5 types of softserve ice cream to choose from. Chocolate softserve wasn’t not available during our visit.
1)Breakfast RM12
Soft serve ice cream with Caramelized Cereal & Macaroon Shell
2)Honey Chips RM10
Soft serve ice cream with Crushed Potato Chips & Drizzle of Honey
3)Theatre RM12
Soft serve ice cream with Gourmet Popcorn
4)Fluffy RM10
Soft serve ice cream with Cotton Candy & Sprinkles of Himalayan Sea Salt
5)Honey Brick RM12
Soft Serve ice cream with a piece of New Zealand Honeycomb
We had an order of Breakfast, getting 20% discount in conjunction with Softsrve soft opening. Ice cream is velvety smooth, milky soft, topped over with caramelized cereal, sided with one macaroon shell. Serving is cup-in-a-cup style, where ice cream is towered up in small, short cup, then placed above another taller paper cup filled with a small cube of dry ice.
So there goes the chemical reaction- sublimation process. When dry ice placed in water, sublimation process is accelerated, creating voluminous water fog that turns out to be the “selling points” in Softsrve Damansara Uptown.
Oh well, everybody loves the vapor cloud.
Putting aside the brilliant presentation idea, tastewise, we feel Milkcow is better, creamier, milkier. Portion wise, Milkcow soft serve ice cream is more generous compare to Softsrve too. Price wise, we consider Milkcow is already expensive but Softsrve is calling on higher price. RM12 for a small cup of softserve ice cream with one/two toppings, expensive or not, you judge.
