If you asked us what to eat in Cheras, the most we can answer will be: “Go to Taman Connaught Cheras Pasar Malam”. Such as shame, as we don’t frequent to this place. We had been to Cheras only once, squeezing ourselves within a sea of people at Cheras Pasar Malam.
Just one time, and no more, until we discovered Bookmark Coffee Cafe.
Located just a stone throw from USCI University, Bookmark Coffee humbly houses a petite space in front of 9 Hair Saloon Studio, beside Restoran Gading Curry House. In case you are not familiar with the place like us, look for the green colour shade roof written with “Field Tea 花田小铺“.
Bookmark Coffee keeps their decoration at minimal due to the limited space. For indoor, the cafe can accommodate about 15 pax, and 8-10 pax for outdoor currently. Can’t deny the interior is unassuming, but what this quaint little shop offers can be a pleasant surprise, bringing smile to your face, and wallet.
Coffee takes the limelight here, putting art of coffee beyond free pour and etching. Having a skillful barista and a former reporter arms with art talent, diners can request for any drawings on a cuppa of good coffee. We love the Snowman and Santa drawings that cheer up our Christmas Day!
Just let your imagination flows, bookmark pretty drawings on your coffee at Bookmark Coffee. Mickey, Donald Duck, Eiffel Tower, portrait, etc., just pass the picture to the staff in case they are not sure on the character you want to have on your coffee.
Of course you can have classic free pour, which is more recommended as you get to savour the coffee at its optimal drinking temperature. They charge only RM8 nett for a cup of milky, aromatic flat white, prepared using Sulawesi Kalosi Single Origin. Great deal! Green Tea latte is good too, very milky and rich.
Crispy American Toast with Bacon RM8.00
Deep fried American-style thick toast jacketed with lots of corn flakes, adding more crunch to its exterior that delivers texture contrast to the fluffy, pillow soft interior. Add on smoky, salty sensation with a slice of bacon.
Highly recommended, and big applause for Bookmark Coffee’s effort in preparing a toast which fares differently from its counterpart. Furthermore, for similar toast, you won’t be getting this price elsewhere, unless you want to make at home.
Smoked Duck Breakfast Platter RM12.00
At only RM12, Bookmark Coffee serves us a speical Christmas breakfast platter complete with toasted bread, sausages, sunny side up, saute mushrooms with onions, chicken ham and smoked duck slices. Not top notch in term of taste, but homey, definitely pocket friendly!
Coffee Cheese Cake RM8.00
Cake is reasonably priced too, with choices such as Tiramisu, Mama’s Chocolate Cake, Coffee Cheese Cake, just to name a few. Summergirl opted for a Coffee Cheese Cake- a sponge-base cake flavoured up with coffee, sandwiching a layer of cheese in between, generously dressed with caramalized crushed nuts.
Aside from being a bit hot due to the half opened area, there is literally no complains about this cafe. Cozy ambience, friendly service, great coffee, reasonably priced food. One of the must-visit coffee place!
