Ri-Yakitori has been selected as one of ‘The Best’ and ‘The Top’ Yakitori in town by TimeOut KL for several times, and finally we paid this hidden gem a visit last weekend. Located at the 6th floor of The Gardens Hotel, this best yakitori in Mid Valley City lives up to its name, highlighting skewers of juicy, delicious yakitori together with a range of Japanese comfort food, drinks and alcoholic selections.
Assorted Grilled Chicken RM30.00
If you were not sure which one to select after a few glance on the menu that spans across a wide choices of yakitori, we suggest you to go for Assorted Grilled Chicken set that covers chicken skin, breast, meatball, wings and thigh.
Chicken Skin (RM4.00)
Then only take more time to study the yakitori choices available. No harm getting another stick of chicken skin for more crispy and chewy munch. Chicken gizzard skin, liver, heart, and gizzards are available for those who appreciate innards goodness.
Chicken Meatball (RM8.00)
Chicken Meatball, or Tsukune is one of the restaurant’s best seller. The meatball, formed in elongated shape, is firmly packed with minced chicken, lightly coated with savoury sweet sauce. Served with egg yolk dip.
Enoki Mushroom (RM5.00)
Meanwhile, tomato, garlic, onion, enoki mushroom, leek, zucchini, lotus root, shiitake mushroom, abalone mushroom, green chilli, asparagus, eggplants, and Japanese yam yakitori are on the list to offer nutrient and fiber balance in between your meat skewers.
Wagyu Beef on Skewer (RM35.00)
Continue with Wagyu Beef on Skewer, featuring satisfying chunks of quality beef combining juicy, moist and succulent sensation.
Giant Fresh Water Prawn (RM45.00)
Grilled water prawn is fresh from head to tail, so put away the doubt on whether to discard the head. Break the head of the prawns, suck the juices before proceed to the firm, meaty filling.
Scallop (RM45.00)
Sizable scallops grilled to slightly burnt at the outer edge, pleasantly locked with juiciness from the inside. Sink your teeth across this sea treasure and enjoy memorable sweetness oozing through your palate.
Ramen in Hot Chicken Broth RM25.00
Strands of thin, chewy noodles immersed in a bowl of pipping hot, salty base chicken soup, topped over with unexpected chicken drumstick, and alluring Ajitsuke tamago holding runny, yellowish egg yolk. Slurp up quickly, as the ramen tends to turn soggy after a while.
Garlic Fried Rice RM15.00
Enough to serve two and great to side with yakitori if you need some carbo in your meal. Garlicky good, but moderate in aroma.
Teriyaki Chicken RM29.00
Teriyaki Chicken in Ri-Yakitori goes back to the basic, with only two skewers of Teriyaki Chicken served over a bed of Japanese rice. No sautéed onions nor egg that always over-moisten the rice, and we are glad to tuck in spoonfuls of rice flavorfully infused with sticky sweet, salty teriyaki sauce.
Tempura Moriawase RM70.00
Assortment of prawns an vegetable dipped into tempura batter, deep fried to result in light golden brown, crunchy bites at the outside, laid with natural juiciness inside. Like that ebi tempura doesn’t taste mushy as in certain restaurants.
