Long holiday for this year’s Hari Raya, simply also means -extra days to hop on more coffee places for Summerkid and Summergirl! Visited Whimsical Gelateria & Caffe at Publika, Solaris Dutamas, one of the latest cafe in town, established by the man behind Cielo Dolci.
While Cielo Dolci in Paradigm Mall specializes only in Italian Gelato, Whimsical, as named- Gelateria & caffe, unfolds a brand new concept with menu completes from breakfast till dinner, while maintaining their awesome gelato-infused sweet treat for teatime and merely dessert pleasure.
Located in D2-G3 of Solaris Dutamas, Cielo Dolci is same row with London Town, welcoming diners with a storefront selling gelato made using traditional Italian method, stored in Pozzetti tubs to retain freshness and textures- the first and by far the only in Malaysia.
As we push the door in, Whimsical impress us with a dreamy, cozy interior- shinny concrete walls half sectioned with baby blue cage wall on the upper part, creatively mounting with potted plants, lamps, and wooden ornaments. Geometric wall calls for a contrast, yet in harmony with wooden furnishing that completes most part of the cafe. Not to forget, we like the French press transformed into flower pot.
Cotton Candy Affogato RM13.90
Main dishes seem worthwhile, but we have to skip this, as we are still full from brunch. Cotton Candy Affogato caught our attention, combining Cielo Dolci Coconut Gula Melaka Gelato with a shot of espresso, topped over with mellow soft cotton candy. Similar idea of Oh-Scooter Cafe, yet different in some way.
The marriage of hot espresso with cold gelato knock in well, chilling sweet and best enjoyed in these hot days, though the gelato melt down fast. Whimsical waffle+ gelato looks good, but, next time perhaps. One can also opt for icy cold goodness solely- single scoop at RM7.90, double at RM13.90 and Triple Scoop at RM18.90.
Cappuccino
Whimsical serves Sumatran-Brazilian blend roasted by Artisan Roastery. Well balanced, velvety smooth and pleasant to the palate.
Glad to visit this quaint little cafe that strives to elevate the Cielo Dolci artisanal gelato experience a few steps further. Will hunt down their Nasi Lemak Gelato next time. =D
