Korean Barbecue (BBQ) restaurants are widely available in Malaysia, but for Japanese Restaurants that focus on similar concept, the amount are far more lesser. The only one we have visited so far is Gerai Makanan Japanese BBQ At Taman Desa.
About six months ago, Yakiniku Ishiya from Kyoto, Japan adds on the Japanese Yakiniku list by opening their first franchise in The Strand, Kota Damansara, Malaysia. This Japanese restaurant is founded by Mr. Reiji Yamamoto in the imperial capital of Japan, and he aims to preserve and enhance the flavours of traditional style of Japanese Barbecue, with unique conction of tare, or dipping sauce.
BBQ Promotion RM48++ for 2pax
We visited the restaurant last week for an enjoyable Yakiniku, or Japanese Stone House Grilled Meat session; and have to say that, this place is highly recommended. They are now having BBQ promotion which is priced at RM48++ for two pax.
For the set, patrons can select 3 out of 5 choices- smoked duck, New Zealand lamb shouder, squid, chicken and New Zealand beef sirloin. Each set comes with 1 green salad, and 2 mini garlic fried rice.
New Zealand lamb shoulder is the must try in Yakiniku Ishiya, most popular among diners. Marinated with Yakiniku Ishiya’s special sauce, the lamb shoulder which goes on a sizzling on stone pot showcases a strong gaminess that is surprisingly pleasant. Even Summergirl who always avoid lamb dishes gave thumbs up to this.
Saba Steak Teishoku
If Japanese grilling is too rush for the one hour lunch break, one can always call for their lunch set which comprises of appetizer,main dish, rice, miso soup and fruits. One can opt for Saba Steak Teishoku, yu Yanagawa Nabke Teishoku and Tori Pirikara Yaki teishoku.
Gyu Yanagawa Nabe Teishoku
Gyu Yanagawa Nabe Teishokuset is our favourite, simmering extra moist and tender beef slices with egg, mushroom and onions, gathering sweetness of all ingredients in one pot.
Tori Pirikara Yaki teishoku
Tori Pirikara Yaki teishoku is the safest choice among the three set, featuring nugget size chicken chunks thickly coated with dark gravy concocted in sweet, savoury goodness. Goes well with rice.
Salmon (5PCS) RM18.00
If you are the person who couldn’t help ordering a plate of sashimi each time venturing into a Japanese restaurant, Yakiniku Ishiya will not disappoint you with their fresh salmon, butterfish, seasonal fish sashimi, and more.
Golden Dragon Maki RM18
Golden Dragon Maki earns its name from his golden yellow colour apperance, featuring prawn tempura wrapped within sushi rice, deep fried to golden brown and topped over with flying roe, further garnished with tempura bits. The deep fried process enhanced the overall texture, adding addictive crispy munch within chewiness.
In short, Yakiniku Ishiya offers more choices than we expected. Worth visiting for a casual Japanese Yakiniku session while enjoying other ala-carte dishes.
