Has been mentioning about the famous Village Park Nasi Lemak for years, but we never pay a visit. Blame ourselves for giving all kinds of reasons that should not be a reason: Lazy; too far; too crowded..etc…etc….etc..
Summerkid was really carving for Nasi Lemak one weekend. He thought about Uptown Village Park Nasi Lemak and decided to try it out, despite the continuous mumbling from Summergirl: Lunch time wor.. So pack, so crowded, so many people. Whatever the reason was, we were here finally.
The whole restaurant was really crowded, full house with no empty seats, not yet counting the hot and stuffy environment in the afternoon. Staffs did open up more folded tables to cater more patrons, but it did not seem enough. More diners coming in, the queue at the counter was long, regardless the side for ordering food or bill footing.
We managed to grab a seat after 20 minutes of waiting. For standard order, just call any of the staffs. If you wanted to add more dishes to your order, which is not on the standard menu, suggest to line up at the ordering section and choose your favourite dishes available- daily vegetables, sambal udang, sambal sotong, deep fried fish, just to name a few.
For us, it was pretty straight forward-Nasi Lemak and Ayam Goreng. These are the two must have in Uptown Damansara Village Park Nasi Lemak. The total went to RM9, rather pricey to be frank, but couldn’t complain much, for it was really delicious.
Village Park’s Nasi Lemak was filled with the aroma of coconut till the grain, fluffy soft, flavour escalated with the fiery hot sambal. Ayam Goreng did not score for its appearance, but the taste spoke for itself. Deep fried to golden brown, we enjoyed munching on the crispy batter bits that carried flavourful, savoury touch from marination. Meat was tender, juicy, Summerkid could easily wallop down two chicken legs.
In short, their Nasi Lemak is good overall, but not top notch. Service was not friendly, especially at the paying counter. Can’t expect much when the whole restaurant is so busy, everyone is up to his neck to make sure all diners were attended. Talking about returning? Perhaps, for the Ayam Goreng.
