Hails from Ipoh, Perak, the opening of Bricks & Barrel in Desa Sri Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur proves to be a good news for urbanites who love hanging out at pubs or bars for gathering and parties after a busy day at work. It is undeniably that beers, cocktails and other alcoholic drinks take the limelight at this beer garden, but at the same time porky-licious dishes that cover from appetizer, pizza, pasta and main courses are not shadowed too. So, call it gastro-bar.
Roast Pork RM15.00
The key factors towards a good roasted pork is always crispy skin set off with balance layers of gluey fat and succulent lean meat. The one served by Bricks & Barrels doesn’t run far from that, though being done a little salty as beer bites need to go saltier to pair perfectly with beer!
Smoked Duck with Guacamole Sauce RM15.00
Never fails to like smoked duck, for it holds a bolder flavour that match well with almost everything, including over a bed of creamy guacamole sauce. This avocado-based sauce clings a creamy, buttery touch to the savory, smoky smoked duck, resulting in a rich, flavourful combination which tastes much better than when both stand alone.
B&B Chicken RM32.00
Proud creation by the owner of Bricks & Barrels. Saute mushroom enveloped with chicken thigh, baked till crisp at the outside, tender at the inside. Served on a bed of delicately soft mashed potato, garnished with alfalfa, tomato and drizzled with a light, tangy pesto gravy.
Baked Escargots
Half a dozen of escargots come next, enticing the taste bud with its chewy meat brushed over with creamy, cheesy, garlicky sauce.
Grilled Lamb Chop
Another addictive munch that goes well with your beer. Perfectly grilled till slightly charred at the edge, firm chew, flavours packed. Gamey? No so.
Huge Pork Platter (RM198.00)
Get celebrated with Huge Pork Platter completes with porkilicious sausages, roasted pork knuckles, BBQ Pork Ribs, and English roasted pork. Accompanied by vegetables, roast potatoes, sauerkraut and 4 types of sauces.
BBQ Pork Ribs, tenderly soft throughout, beautifully glazed with smoky sweet, finger licking good sauce.
English roast pork, chewy at the center, crunchy at the outer layer. Flavours elevated with a pinch of salt and herbs, lightly dabbed over before delivered into high heat for roasting.
Porky Carbonara
Pork is everywhere in Bricks & Barrels menu, from starter, beer bites to main courses. Porky Carbonara continues to satisfy our palate with a bed of al-dente spaghetti generously loaded with chopped pork bits and mushroom, finished with a beautifully done soft boiled egg that serves to draw a creamier, smoother slurp when you tossed everything together. Recommended.
Tiramisu RM22.00
Dessert selection from Bricks & Barrel is not extensive, but still, noteworthy. The Italian Tiramisu is soft, moist, with a base that gracefully soaked up with kahlua, so light and dreamy that it melts in the mouth almost instantly.
B&B Mojito RM28.00
Never leaves Bricks & Barrels without trying their cocktail. Ample of choices to choose from be it the well known Mojito, Long Island Tea, or Tequila Sunrise, just to name a few.
Make a try to espresso based cocktail that fares a good balance between coffee and liquor. As the sweetness gradually develops, the aroma of liquor flows in to match pleasantly.
Cucumber Martini
The more refreshing choice, crisp and clean, not so sugary.
