Hope we are not too late to hunt down Brewmen, another new coffee place in Solaris Mont Kiara opened by Jeremy, a handsome, young entrepreneur. This less than half year old cafe aims to deliver the best coffee in town, utilizing various brewing techniques to capture quality characteristic of each beans to satisfy discerning palate of coffee lovers.
The cafe sources lots of wooden elements to create a rustic, raw touch together with many other unique details to result in chic, one-of-its kind design. If you chose to sit outdoor, remember to try on the stool made from newspaper, handmade by the owner. Jeremy plans to DIY more “newspaper” stools, but he said he will need to wait for more newspaper to be delivered to him then. Cool.
Brewmen features more than just milk base coffee, as you will see filter coffee, cold drip, cold brew and a few order-to-know coffee like The Devil’s Kiss, Queen Bee, Espresso Bomb, Reverse Latte, Reverse Espresso, Short Red, Long Red, Fresh Red.
Indoor seating aren’t ample, but sufficient to house more than 20 pax at one time. The interior extends the rustic atmosphere through wooden floorings, wooden counters, wooden tables & chairs, wooden shelving and adornments. White colour walls with black colour ceilings, trek lights and pendant lightings glow in yellow sum up to a mix of retro with modern contemporary.
Menu written on chalk board, bicycle (bicycle? Oh, yes. They even have bicycle hangers outdoor for cycler who wants to take a stop and rest at Brewmen), self-made beehives shape racks, used coffee bags, colourful framed mini posters adorning the white walls; bits and pieces here are all keeps in low profile yet brimming with fun and chic contributions.
Dripping coffee.. drip drip drip. Lots of owls drawings are found in Brewmen, adorable but we are clueless on the reason.
Reverse Latte (RM18.00)
Reverse Latte brings usual latte into the reverse state, half DIY concept. Espresso base and milk are served separately, where espresso is frozen, shaped into solid ice ball, packed with 4 shots of espresso. Gently pour the hot milk over the espresso ball, and witness the change of colour from milky white to light brown then dark brown, and from hot milk into cold latte as the espresso dissolve gradually. Leave the milk longer if you preferred stronger taste of latte. The 4 shots of espresso can certainly keep you wide awake.
Filtered Coffee (RM11.00-RM18.00)
Coffee beans in Brewmen are sourced from speciality coffee roasters such as Nylon, Seven Seeds, Papa Palheta, Dutch Colony, etc. Seven Seeds La Delicias is by far the 8th, latest addition into their filter coffee list of choice. Try it out for a yummy lemonade twist!
Get your choice of beans brew on Aeropress, V60 or Chemix. We have ours in single origin El Savador, drawing notes of lemon zest with refined acidity.
For those who want to stick to milk base coffee, latte, cappuccino or mocha in Brewmen all fare good. Our hot latte arrives to be milky, nicely froth with light bitterness. Tempted to try their Red Latte, prepared from Rooibos tea instead of espresso coffee. Next time maybe. Hehe.
Cold Brew (RM12.00)
Cold brew, our recent favourite for it is lighter, lower in acidity, chilling and easy to drink. Thanks to the fatty acids and bitter oils that is left behind during cold brewing. Patrons can purchase Brewmen Cold Brew back home, putting on shelf-life of about one to two weeks. But make sure your fridge is cold enough.
Choco-Coco-Nana (RM16.00)
One of the very few food choices here, but it is awesome. Brewmen waffle is one of the best around KL. Waffle is freshly made upon order, still hot with a crispy edge, fluffy soft center when served. Topped over with banana, generously smothered with nutella jam, crowned with vanilla and garnished with desiccated coconut. Rich, chocolaty, coconuty bites top up the flavours, this waffle is more than just a hot and cold combination.
Summer Orange Poppyseed Cake (RM9.00)
Cake with coffee or coffee with cake? Doesn’t matter as long as both comes together. Choices of cake in Brewmen is limited, but all made with love to pair with their coffee. We enjoy spending weekend here, and slowly savour a balance of sweetness with bitterness.
