Located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Barbecue Garden transports diners away from the hustle of KL city into a garden-theme dining environment, cozy, relaxing.
The restaurant features al-fresco dining at the rooftop of Life Centre, overlooking the main road and partial of the city. Doesn’t matter for the place is not well situated like restaurants which are 30 to 40 floors above the ground, offering stunning view of KL city, for the food and ambience here are already great enough to conpensate.
The born of Barbecue Garden comes from the idea that outdoor barbecue has becoming one of the popular choices nowadays especially for younger generation, when it comes to parties and gatherings. So Barbeuce Garden replicates the same concept, but minus the hassle of self-preparing, marinating of raw ingredients and post-party clean up, plus more comfortable barbecue area. Just come over and enjoy.
Young Papaya Salad with Beef Fillet (RM 15)
Apart from barbeque items, Barbeque Garden offers a range of cooked food from appetizer, main course to dessert. Do not miss the Young Papaya Salad with Beef Fillet, a refreshing combination of shredded young papaya and carrot tossed in tangy dressing, laid in crispy golden basket, topped over with crushed peanuts and beef fillet for extra bites.
Spring & Pork Roll (RM4/roll)
You know cuisines here is going international, when you come across this Vietnamese spring roll on the menu. This traditional staple puts together fresh prawns, spring onion, meats, lettuce and rolled into rice sheet. Taste pretty bland though getting lots of textures in our munching, but as you dip it into the fish sauce, wonders clock in as the savouriness and umami of the sauce level up the overall flavor.
The Steamed Prawns with Coconut Juice (RM25.00)
We did feedback that the steamed prawns are little mushy, less bouncy. The chef clarified this is not a sign of non fresh prawns. In fact, prawns are freshly delivered daily and cook to order. The “not so fresh sign” is resulted from the steaming process with coconut juice. Prawns are visible, but the coconut juice are not. Do scoop up what is resides in the coconut and get a burst of flavours with intense sweetness left by prawns.
A hearty platter ideal for sharing, featuring deep fried calamari, French fries, onion ring and mustard chicken drumstick in one plate. Chicken drumstick no doubt becomes the crowd pleaser, salty plus a touch of herbs at the exterior, with marination deep to the bone to create flavourful, tender and juicy meat.
Pan Malaysian Platter (RM 55)
Platter No 4, a recent addition to the menu, turns out to be the best seller, highly recommended by the staff. Sambal fish fillet, chicken thigh percik, pork rendang, chicken thigh tandoori, definitely your choice to have favourite local flavours in barbecue hours. Served with vegetables and steamed rice.
Jumbo Grilled Crocodile Skewer with Secret Spicy Rub (RM 29/skewer)
First time trying crocodile meat, having mixed feeling on the texture. Packed with smoky flavor, mildly enhanced with spices, just way to chewy to our liking. Must-try for diners who have adventurous palate.
Cheese & Bacon Skewers (RM8)
Summergirl’s favourite, and the hard to go wrong choice. Witness the sexy bacon curled as it is cooking, sizzling on the stove. Pop into the mouth while it is pipping hot to enjoy the rich, creamy melted cheese holds within the bacon. Just one skewer? Of course not enough!
Pork Satay (RM13/ 3 sticks)
Herbs and spices smothered over chunks of pork on skewers, grilled to perfection. Have it original or get an extra momentum of flavor with the blend of peanut base sauce, thick, lots of crushed peanuts but lack in spicy kick.
Garlic Fried Rice
Think of having garlic fried rice only in Japanese restaurant? Make a switch and savour Barbeque Garden version. It tastes much better than many other garlic fried rice in Japanese Restaurant. Wok hei and aroma loaded, finely separated rice, crispy chopped garlic, combines everything with impeccable stir frying skill to deliver a bowl of simple, yet delightful fried rice that earns double thumbs up from us.
Have some vegetables to balance up the overall nutrients.
