Opened just in March this year, Muugu Garden Bistro, Bar & Grill is one of the latest KL dining spots that housed in a restored bungalow, within a quiet enclave off the busy Jalan Bukit Bintang near to Pavillion Shopping Mall. It serves as a perfect place for city goers who look for a quiet dining in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, yet escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
With the word Garden goes into the name of restaurant, you can expect a greenery scene around the restaurant, so it is best to visit in the morning as you can enjoy your food while overlooking the meadow. However if you were there at night, relax under the stars at their al fresco garden. Indoor dining is great too, as it is enjoyable to be seated in a unique, stylo interior.
The design is one-of-its-kind, with attractive diversity to create a bold atmosphere. One side of the wall is bravely painted in orange and adorned with world clocks; while another side is built with exposed bricks for a rustic touch; it looks empty and spacious, yet you find the place brilliantly sectioned at corners for private dining. Further into the restaurant is a long bar, ready to serve on cocktails and other alcoholic drinks.
In case you were looking for a place for event, do not hesitate to ring up Muugu. Garden Weedings, corporate events, parties and gathering, Muugu is more than suitable to host on this. The restaurant can accommodate up to 90 pax, with ample of parking available next door.
Cream of Wild Mushroom RM12.00
Count in Cream of Wild Mushroom into your starter, complete with creamy and aromatic elements, drown with mushroom that almost blended fine to left no bites.
Spicy Seafood De Marie RM15.00
Or, try the Spicy Seafood De Marie. Mouthful of tomatoish laced with zesty touch that wake up your appetite. Spiciness is not protruding, as it is only built up gradually towards the end.
Honey Glazed Chicken Wing RM15.00
Thinly battered chicken wings deep fried to golden brown. Perhaps longer marination time is needed to get a deeper flavour to infuse into chicken. Glazed with honey for a sweet sensation, but it appears light too. So make a dip into homemade chilli sauce served along for a spicy kick if you found it too pale.
Pan Seared Scallops with Quail Eggs RM23.00
We love this bite size starter that stands uniquely from other status. Juicy and smoky aside, popping both into the mouth at the same time allow us to experience the creaminess of the quild egg, which slowly dissolve in harmony with the juicy scallop. A creative pairing that deserved a clap.
Truffle Fries RM8.00
They are not from frozen fries. Muugu fries is made from Russet Burbank Potatoes, freshly cut daily and fried to perfection using 100% vegetable oil. Healthier, and tastes more awesome when you pick the Truffle Fries that is touched up with truffle oil.
Garlic Bread RM6
Muugu says: Our garlic bread is not recommended for vampires. Because it is garlic loaded!
Pan fried Fillet of Salmon RM29.00
Pan fried salmon is flaky soft, just nice with the savoury, crispy skin on top for texture contrast. Summergirl loves the petite sauteed potatoes.Served with mixed greens and topped with homemade Wasabi mayonnaise.
Oven Roasted Braised Chicken Thigh RM23.00
The highly recommended dish, having thigh of chicken braised in white wine sauce and oven roasted. The end product is tenderly soft, almost melt in the mouth and goes more flavourful with brown sauce thickly coated over. Served with mixed greens and sautéed potato.
Seafood Risotto RM25.00
A bountiful plate of risotto brimming with mussels, prawn, clams, and squid, topped with Parmesan cheese. It is cooked into wholesomeness of thick, creamy consistency, yet remains the distinct, al dente bites of the grain of rice.
Beef tenderloin RM55.00/ New York Strip RM35.00/Ribeye RM42.00
Choose between beef tenderloin, new york strip or ribeye, then pair with choice of potato fries, braised potato or sautéed potatoes- the earthy goodness; and also choice of greens ratatouille or baked greens- the nutrient balancer.
Muugu is serious about serving the best steaks every time. They hold a strong persistence in the freshness, quality and cooking of the meat. All beef is 100% airflown from the best farms in Australia, delivered fresh and cooked to ordered everyday.
You don’t need a heafy sauce to flavour up the entire steak, it is good at its original. However if you like them more saucy, you can enjoy your steak with choice of 4 special secret sauce- red wine sauce, creamy black pepper, brown sauce, mushroom sauce which are specially crafted by sauce ninja through experiment of years. Oh-so-bagus.
Braised Lamb Shank RM35.00
Lamb shank slowly braised for hours, so you can expect the meat to be easily fall off the bone, soft and intense in flavour. Served with a choice of fries, mashed or sautéed potatoes, and ratatouille or mixed greens.
Catch of the day RM22
Ask the staff for catch of the day. Ours was deep fried fillets dotted with a spicy sweet sauce, sided with pesto risotto and garden greens.
Tiramisu RM12.00
Muguu version of the famous Italian dessert. Yay we loved this Muugu version of famous Italian dessert. It is great, pillowy soft and airy finger biscuit that comes in harmony with the creamy, bitter sweet linger in the palate.
KL Cheese Cake RM12.00
Better than NY Cheese cake? You decide. Delicately soft and creamy, sided with berry sauce and a scoop of ice cream to add on the creaminess.
Chocolate Fondant RM13.00
Lava chocolate cake served with vanilla ice cream. If you ask what would I come back for in Muugu. My answer will be this Chocolate Fondant. This dessert is brimming to the max with molten chocolate, gracefully oozing out as we fork through. So amazingly good for it is creamy and chocolaty thick filling which is partially soaked into the soft, moist chocolate cake. Match in perfect with the icy cold vanilla ice cream for a hot and cold cross.
Strawberry Granita RM9.00
Pure strawberry goodness. Very refreshing and works good as palate cleanser we would say. Sweetness has taken a step further than the gracious fragrance of strawberry, leaving the granita a little over sugary loaded.
