Friday night and Saturday are supposed to be pampered with great meal, seeing that we have worked hard for the entire week. We found a new spot for Friday dinner and weekend lunch buffet recently, which is Vogue Cafe at Renaissance Hotel. Been to Renaissance Hotel for numerous time but we never step into this cafe before. Just two weeks ago, we joined their dinner buffet which is available on Friday and Saturday evening, priced at RM103++ per pax and half price for child.
The cafe is surprisingly spacious and elegant with modern contemporary design. Carpeted floor, linear lines running along the counter, evenly spaced wood strip curving its way up to the pillar, ceiling to floor windows offer ample of natural lights and clear view of the bustling corner of Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan Ampang.
The dinner buffet focuses in international and local cuisines, hence diners will be assured with wide variety of sumptuous choices. Start from the salad section, diners are free to select a mix of colourful, healthy vegetables and tossed them with mayonnaise, thousand island dressing and more.
Moving to appetizer, cold cuts, penne with cheese, stir fried vermicelli corn mix, capsicum and tomato salad are among the list. We found the vermicelli rather hard, but the penne which was lightly tossed in olive oil with a garnish of cheese powder was good.
Yay, seafood on ice! We filled our plate with oyster, yabbies, boiled prawns and mussels. If you like them in soup, just pick your choice of seafood and handover to the staff. Withn minutes, you will be served with a bowl of pipping hot soup laid with sweet essence of seafood, and seafood you have chosen of course!
Coming to mains, we approached hot dishes prepared in multi tasty ways, be it steamed, baked, stir fried or braise. We had few helpings of the Chinese dumplings, seemed simple but the golden skin encased with minced meat and vegetables proved to be our cup of tea, smoothness added when glazed over with light dark sauce.
Apart from that, entice the tastebud with meat rendang, roasted duck, roasted chicken, roasted potato, cod fish in cream sauce, broccoli soup, pasta, chicken soup, and more. We didn’t put much expectations to the roasted potato, but it turned out awesome, earthy amd flavourful with a touch of saltiness.
A small section of sushi platter to delights sushi lovers. Not too bad, just alright to add more varieties to the buffet spread.
Sweet tooth will love the buffet’s dessert corner, as it features myriad of colours, flavours and texture from pudding, tart, cheese cake, chocolate fondue, puff, french cake, fruit cocktails to ice cream.
Among all, we liked the chocolate tart the most. It was dense, rich, chocolaty, we could indulge in a whole large piece even though feeling stuffed. Too delicious to resist.
Our buffet end with a satisfying note. If you happened to be in Renaissance Hotel but not in the mood for buffet, don’t worry as Vogue Cafe also has ala carte menu offering intriguing selection all day long.
