On 19th June 2013, Renaissance Hotel, the hotel brand that has always encourages its guests to “Live Life to Discover”, had invited visitors, as well as locals to participate in their second annual “Global Day of Discovery”.
On this day, 155 Renaissance Hotels in 35 destinations around the world had celebrated this Marriott initiative by hosting their second exclusive “RLife LIVE” events, offering more than 30,000 guests to leave their room and discover something new, as well as unique offsite discovery created by hotel NAVIGATORS to showcase the personcality of each destination.
Also, the “Global Day of Discovery” celebration officially kicked off Renaissance Hotels’ Summer of Discovery, which is a summer-long calender of exciting events taking place at Renaissance locations around the world through September, designed to help travelers to discover the best of the season.
As part of this unique global campaign, Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel had hosted an exclusive RLife LIVE experience with the up and coming DJ Geri, who had kept us entertained throughout the whole evening with her blend of house, electro and dance music. With her electrifying tunes and personality, DJ Geri has the ability of reading the crowds’ minds and plays her music to get the people in the mood.
The whole event was presented in a ‘maze’ form, with exciting activities, food and performanace waiting to be discovered in each corner.
Guests get to customize their own cupcakes, utilizing creativity together with the colourful icing, fondant or candy melts provided. Had fun, and made some perfect swirls for the cupcake toppings.
Thanks to Kartunis Joe, we had our hand illustrated ‘Big head tiny body’ comic protrait skillfully drawn by him in less than 5 minutes. Oh-so-cute.
Meanwhile, Executive Andrea Conte and his team delighted the palate of guests with a selection of signature dishes such as Toasted tapas (of slowly cooked short ribs with cheddar, Thai grilled chicken with green papaya, tandoori prawns with mascarpone raita and grilled eggplant with feta cheese) in panini; Peking duck, Lobster and Dim sum.
-Sushi Roll-
-Dim Sum-
-Cakes-
-Kek Lapis-
Sarawak Laksa was the favourite among all- Rice noodle soaked up with the goodness of thick broth which was packed with flavours, lending spicy and sourish concoction that made us drink till the last drop.
Peking Duck was as good, crisp skin with flavourful meat. We loved having the duck meat alone without any rice sheet wraps or savory sauce as they tend to overshadow the good taste of the meat. # Extra greedy#
Apart from that, the hotel was generous enough to provide free flow of drinks for all guests. Various choices of beers and ciders lining up at the cabinet for grab- Strongbow, Savana, Corona Extra, Carlsberg, Lowenbrau, Stella Artois, Heineken, etc.
The joy and noise still continued at high heat by the time we left. Thanks to the invitation, we had a great time in Renaissance Hotel that night. A great ‘Discovery Day” indeed to provoke today’s lifestyle-oriented business traveler to explore a hotel, or destination’s hidden gems.
