Blu Med, a yet to opened authentic Mediterranean restaurant located in the Boulevard Offices Mid Valley, will soon presents a new destination for both casual and fine dining, and it seats a total of 220 patrons in their two floors dining areas. Executed by Iron Chef Sasajime, the Maestro of distinctive style of Italian cuisine with a Japanese twist, this restaurant will certainly brings new culinary experience to patrons when it opens its door in the end of January 2013. We felt honoured to be invited for the pre-launched dinner last Wednesday night. Even though everything was still under construction, the kitchen managed to deliver perfect dishes for all diners that night, with minimal miss.
Buffalo Mozzarella and Plum Tomato ‘Caprese’
Fresh tomato, Mozzarella cheese, lettuce and a dash of olive oil all in one mouth, makes a perfect starter in a delicate portion.
Carpaccio of Hirame with Wild Rice and Soft Aubergine
A Japanese and Italian fusion dish that boosts layers of texture- grainy at the bottom, mushy in the middle, raw in the second top and crunchy at the top layer. Hearty, nutritious but a little pale, it is too difficult for us who are used to the heavy flavours of Oriental dishes to appreciate this subtle flavours .
Spaghetti Tomato Sauce with Sea Bass and Grilled Vegetables
A simple pasta shines with Mediterranean flavours of fresh, creamy and tangy tomato base, gorgeously coating the slightly firm pasta with meaty munch from sea bass chunks.
Espresso Pannacotta
The meal ends with a spectacular dessert that promotes a creamy, custard-like texture, lacing with a punch of espresso flavour.
Well, our dinner is just a preview, and there are more to come.
When Blu Med unveiled, you discover, and savour.
