Being a Malaysia, we always have reasons to celebrate more festivals than others -Chinese New Year, Deepavali, Hari Raya, Mooncake Festival, Christmas, Dumpling Festival, you name it. We celebrate together all occasions, regardless the festival belongs to which races. Most of the times, we enjoy the festival with gifts and food feasts.
And now, Christmas is drawing near, the first thing that comes into our mind other than Santa Claus and Socks with gifts will be- Turkey. Yes, a turkey feast. Beside the usual roasted turkey, now you can have more than that, at Imperial Chakri Palace KLCC. This Christmas, Chakri Palace offers you a variety of turkey dishes cooked in Thai style. So, save the hassle of thinking where to go for your Christmas meal, and just drop by at Chakri to enjoy your Christmas with delicious turkey delicacies.
Mieng Kam (RM19.90)
Start your meal with Thai traditional appetizer, Mieng Kam. Hand picked by the chef, the Kaduk leaves is fresh without strong unpleasant leafy taste, and taste nice when flavored up with shredded coconut, chili padi, onions, limes, ginger, dried shrimps wrapping within it.
Turkey Thai Salad / Larb Gai Nguang (RM21.00)
We like the salad, for it is simple but unique in its own way. The main character in this dish- the minced turkey, is spicy, savoury and tangy in taste, definitely will brings up our appetite. You can either have only the minced turkey, or eat together with the green vege lacing around it to get a crunchy and chewy munch at the same time.
Hong Kong Kailan with Sliced Turkey ( RM39.90)
Yeap, you don’t see the Kailan, because they are hidden beneath, so enjoy the sliced turkey on top first. It has a firm texture, and goes well with the thick gravy that tastes much like a mix of soy sauce with bean paste sauce. The Hong Kong Kailan, no doubt, is fresh. But there is a small miss for the mushrooms lining beside the dish, for the raw mushroom taste is not covered up well.
Thai Red Curry Turkey (RM20.00)
We used to have the Thai Curry with chicken meat or duck meat, but this time, with turkey meat and it still taste great. The curry is creamy and fragrance as usual, we are happy to add a few more spoonful onto our plain rice.
Chakri Tom Yam Gung Mae Num (RM19.50)
This soup has got no turkey, but is the must have in Chakri. Portion is huge, with ingredients such as prawns, squids, fish and mushroom generously loaded within it. The hot clear soup has a medium spiciness and sourness, very tummy warming and appetizing.
Stir Fried Turkey with Thai Basil (RM25.00)
Stir fried with Thai Basil sauce, every munch of the turkey slices and long beans are not just flavorful, but delightfully infused with the fragrance of Thai basil.
Phad Thai Gung Sod (RM18.90)
The Phad Thai looks like Char Kuey Teow, but they never taste the same. This Thai rice noodles is thinner but thicker, more chew. It is stir fried with egg, bean sprouts, chicken and prawns too, but taste on sweeter side with peanuty texture within munch.
Khow Neow Ma Moung (RM14.00)
After all the savoury dishes, is time to have some desserts. Try out the Khow Neow Ma Moung, which is sticky rice topped with salted coconut milk and sided with fresh mango. The sticky rice is served warm, tastes chewy and not too sweet, just perfect to match with the sweet fresh mango.
Ai Tab Tim Krob (RM15.00)
Lastly, do not forget to try out Tab Tim Krob, or water chestnut served in coconut milk. It is sweet, refreshing, chilling, with a treasure of sliced nangka, waterchest nut and sago swimming in the coconut milk.
