Hunting for a good cuppa of coffee has seemed to be our weekly routine since we started working, as this is the only time that we can really sit down and enjoy ourselves without worrying about the work pilling inside the mind. Antipodean cafe, is our target this round. The shop is located along the busy street in Bangsar Baru, a few shops away from La Bodega and below Mirror Fashion Galley.
Antipodean serves quality coffee roasted at their own cafe by Indonesia’s top speciality roaster, Merdeka Coffee. Merdeka Coffee works on getting coffee from small holder growing partners and not on brokerage sytem, hence making it taste better with good quality. The cafe has spanned across Asia, with a total of five cafes in Australia, Indonesia and Malaysia.
We have been hearing good reviews of this Antipodean cafe for long, and so we fought the tough traffic in Bangsar yesterday, driving round and round along Jalan Telawi 1, 2, 3 and the housing area nearby just to get a parking. When we finally reached there and pushed the door inside, we were so surprise to see the crowd inside. It was 5pm and the cafe was almost full with only two small tables left. Of course we felt grateful as we were still able to grab a seat, even though the seat was in the middle of the cafe, which we didn’t really like. But it’s OK. =)
The menu is beautifully scribble on the chalk board, so one can take his own sweet time choosing what he wants and do not have to wait for the menu to come especially when all waitress are busy. Just the downside is, stepping the GIANT menu from top till the bottom made us went dizzy giddy. But we like the menu this way, as it saves more trees and add more decorations. The beverage menu is extensive, and the food menu seems equally tempting too. Too bad we only had rooms for drinks that time. Lemon Meringue Pie and Kiwi Style Lamb Burger, we will eat you next time.
Iced Mochacino (RM10)
The weather was so hot, so we painfully skipped the hot bevarage with pretty latte art and picked a glass of iced mochacino. We were happy that our iced mochacino was beautifully served too, tasted soothingly thick and rich. Just a little more chocolaty we would mistakenly think that it was iced chocolate.
Still…iced mochacino.
Ordering two glasses of coffee which is of same flavour in a same cafe at the same time wasn’t something we will do. So all we can say is this was the special treat from the cafe, and thank you very much to Antipodean for serving us another cuppa of nice iced mocha. *BOW*
Even though the cafe is very busy, the surrounding still remains comfortable and relaxing, so comfy that we didn’t realise that we had been sitting inside for more than two hours. Definitely a very good stop for meeting, chit-chatting and perhaps dating. A glass of iced mocha is not enough, we will surely come back Antipodean again for their all day breakfast, mains, hot coffee and healthy fruit juice.
