Tart in a cake or cake in a tart, called it a cake or a tart. Karafuru, you never want to miss it, especially if you are a sweet tooth.
Karafuru signifies colourful in Japanese, is actually the name of a newly opened dessert shop in Tokyo Street, Pavillion Kuala Lumpur. Located near to the entrance of Tokyo Street, with a mini windmill shop sign in rainbow colours. The shop is pretty small and simple, but with those eye catchy and colourful fruit tarts displayed in clear cabinet, you can hardly miss it out.
Karafuku signature desserts are fruit tarts. Nonetheless, they also offer mini cakes, truffles, power puff, mocha fingers and all kinds of adorable and mouth watering desserts in array. All of them are made skillfully by a Japanese chef. It is definitely fresh and with no preservative added.
A slice layered with thin crust, sponge cake, and generously loaded with fruit puree, custard filling, fresh cream and fresh fruits, handmade and comes with great weight, will it be expensive? Absolutely NO! Each slice is priced at RM8.90 and RM85.00 for a whole cake, while other desserts are priced from RM3.90 to RM18.90.
Grape Tart.
Simple pie crust with light fresh cream and topped with quality grapes of different varieties. Nothing complicated, just simply irresistable.
Rasberry Peach Tart.
Pie crust layered with chocolate sponge cake and oozing with rasberry and peach on top. It is definitely sweet but satisfying.
Mixed Fruit Tart.
Aww.. want to have all the fruits in a slice? Greediness doesn’t count here, here is the mixed fruit tart for you! Another pie crust base fruit tart with chocolate sponge cake layering in between and showered by peach, kiwi, grapes, mango and strawberry.
Banana Oreo Tart.
Another beautiful invention from Karafuku, with double layer sponge cake topped with sliced banana and sided with Oreo biscuit. Don’t doubt, chocolate-banana-fresh cream-Oreo, these combinations are heavenly good.
Meringue Mango Tart.
Meringue is light and airy, just enough to balance up the sweetness of mango filling and goes really well with the pie crust. We love this the most.
Strawberry Tart.
Here comes the tart base crust layered with sponge cake, fresh cream, strawberry and almond flakes. The sourish strawberry slices pair well with the fresh cream and crust. A little downside would be the coating on top of the strawberry tasted bad.
Thanks to Karafuru and Ivy from FOOD, we got to taste these lovely fruit tarts.
