The Watertree Project introduces Watertree Pod paper-based boxed water, an alternative to single use plastic bottled water. Stay hydrated with new planet-safe, water. #SayNoToSingleUsePlastic
Did you know that 12 million single-use plastic bottles are consumed in a month in Malaysia? And where do they all go? The ugly truth – most of them go into landfills, or pollute critical water sources, rivers and the ocean. To make things worse, plastics discarded into the environment can survive for hundreds of years. They break down into micro-plastics that do not biodegrade.
And we have not added single-use plastic bags, single-use container, etc.. into the statistic yet. Imagine the amount of plastic that will be produced in the planet. If such situation continues, soon there would be more plastic bottles than animals in the forest, fish in the sea. You certainly do not want this to happen, not anyone of us.
For us, we too play our part in helping to reduce plastic pollution. Small effort but we believe that a little goes a long way – We bring our own recycle bag when going for shopping; use reusable container during takeaways; avoid single-use plastic utensils; use our own water bottles and dispose our waste appropriate in recycling facility nearby.
Heard about The Watertree Pod from one of our friends not too long ago and thought it is something worth sharing. The WaterTree Pod is Malaysia’s first paper-based water drink, by The Watertree Project – a movement that encourages the re-use of drink, food and even cutlery items in lieu of single-use plastic. It also aims to change our thinking and consumption behavior towards a more sustainable lifestyle.
This eco-friendly boxed water is made from 75% wood fibre sourced from responsibly-managed forests certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC). Natural and renewable material, doing minimal harm to the environment. It is also BPA & BPS free.
After finish drinking, you can flatten this paper-based container and deposit in the paper section of recycling bin, as The Watertree Pods are classed as “UBC” (Used Beverage Cans) under the PAPER category. They can then recycled into something useful such as paper bags, carton boxes and writing papers. A great initiative to close the gap between waste product and the recycled benefits.
Bio-caps are derived from sugarcane, which have a much lower carbon impact than conventional caps made from fossil-fuel derived plastics.
The Watertree Pod is now available at Jaya Grocer, Village Grocer and BIG supermarket. Purchase them in-store or online. For corporate, this planet-safe Watertree pods are great alternative to single-use plastic. Watertree can supply your drinking water needs within your organisation, or have your company’s logo displayed on the waterpods.
Think twice the next time you are about to pick up a plastic bottled water from the shelves. You can have a better choice for your drink-on-the-go. Make the world a better place to stay, for you, for everyone and for future generation. Say No to single-use plastic, and be proud to say “I did the right thing”.
