We have been hearing a lot about Jibby Chow at SS15 Courtyard Subang, a Halal certified restaurant that takes prides in Chinese delicacies with modern twist.
From all-time-favourite such as Cantonese-style Sweet & Sour Chicken, Steamed Fish with Nyonya Sauce, Salted Egg Yolk Prawns to dishes fused with chef’s creativity like Marinated Australian Lamb Ribs with Peppermint Jelly & Chili Jam, Buffalo Wings in Chilli BBQ, Kam Heong & Prawn Fried Rice and Calamansi Sambal Chicken, there’s always something for everyone.
Finally checked out this place over the weekend, sampling some of the signature dishes from Jibby Chow newly revamped menu that aims to create improved, better dining experience for all diners. Glad that everything was lovely. Just gotta come back with family so that we can taste more dishes!
Began with Crispy Duck RM38, a starter similar to Peking Duck.
Take a piece of warm steamed rice pancake sheet, add a bit of everything, wrap it up like a popiah, pop into mouth and enjoy myriad of flavours and textures in one go – flavourful duck meat, hoisin sauce, and refreshing crisp of cucumber.
Next, Steamed Fish with Nyonya Sauce, Ginger Flower, Pineapples and Okra (Seasonal Price) that can easily becomes the crowd-favourite. Fresh, moist fish, with appetizing sauce that undeniably goes well with a bowlful of rice. Diners can have a choice of either seabass, red snapper or hybrid grouper, then have it prepared in either steamed/deep fried in Cantonese style superior soy sauce, deep fried with Cantonese style sweet and sour sauce, Thai-inspired steamed fish with kaffir lime broth, among others.
Was a bit reluctant to order this Mongolian Style Wok Tossed Australian Lamb Ribs with Pickled Chilli and Cucumber Ribbons RM45 initially because Summergirl doesn’t really like lamb. But it looks really good from the menu picture so Summerkid insisted to have this. No regret. It was sooo delicious! Really enjoyed the Australian lamb ribs coated in sticky sweet, smoky sauce, with faint hint of spiciness. Minimal gaminess, just wonderful tenderness in every bite. Wish to have some steamed bun to mop up all the leftover sauce. Even Summergirl gave thumbs up for this. Must-try when you are in Jibby Chow.
Jibby Chow has an interesting rendition of Fried Rice, offering options like Char Siew Chicken with Spring Onion & Egg Fried Rice, Kam Heong & Prawns Fried Rice, Jibby Chow Cantonese Style Crab Meat Fried Rice and Salted Egg Yolk Duck Meat Fried Rice. Love the Salted Egg Yolk Duck Meat Fried Rice RM19 we ordered – Wok-hei loaded, flavours enhanced with the extra oomph from salted egg. It looks like portion for one when served, but it is actually very generous, ideal for 3 pax if you are having other sharing dishes.
If you are dining in small group and prefer personal meal, look no further to Chow’s Fav menu. Mr Chow’s Chicken Rice RM25 – A combo of crispy skin roast chicken with fragrant rice, accompanied by chicken broth soup, Bentong soy, bean sprouts with fried shallots, garlic chilli and young ginger dipping sauce. Fret not, you can also have the highly recommended Mongolian Style Wok Tossed Australian Lamb Ribs RM30 in smaller portion from this section! Comes with a bowl of Jasmine rice and Hong Kong Kailan for a substantial meal. Noodles like Mee Curry, Char Kueh Teow, Cantonese Fresh Water Prawn Yin Yong, Beef Noodle Soup, Stir Fried Wanton Noodles and Jibby Chow Lobster Noodles are available too.
Quench your thirst with Ni Hao Coconut Mocktails, Mo Man Tai Mint Mocktails, Lai Lai Lychee Mocktails or soothing Chinese Tea such as Puer, Chrysanthenum, Jasmine, Oolong, Tie Guan Yin.
