For only RM178nett per person, enjoy different types of cheese specially chosen by the chef, along with breads, biscuits and fruits in buffet-style. Free-flow red wine, white wine and sparkling.
Had a try on this special buffet last Wednesday. 5 types of cheese were served, namely Hard & Semi Hard Comte AOP, Bloomy Rind Cheese-Cow Fougerus, Goat Cheese Rouellle de poc Cendree, Washed Rind Cow Pave D’Auge and Blue Vein Bleu D’auvergne AOP. Selections will be on rotation but rest assured, no compromise on good quality and great taste.
Hard & Semi Hard Comte AOP
We started with the mild – Comté AOP. Creamy and a little nutty with small crunchy crystals, an easy-to-eat cheese that we can just snack away like that in mini crackers size without feeling cloying. We paired with dried apricot too. Lovely!
Bloomy Rind Cheese-Cow Fougerus
Continuted with Fougerus – pale yellow colour cheese with bloomy rind. Like the fluffy white flat surface adorned with bracken – yeah, the leaf contributes to the name of this cheese too. Fern is named “fougere” in French. Texture wise, it is delicately soft, smooth and creamy with hints of sweetness, just nice to spread over bread.
Washed Rind Cow Pave D’Auge
Pavé d’Auge, a type of washed rind cheese made from cow milk. Similar to Fougerus, it is soft, buttery and creamy but darker in colour, richer in taste too. We enjoyed this with paper thin, crispy biscuits.
Goat Cheese Rouellle de poc Cendree
The cheese that gained our attention most in this Wine & Cheese buffet. Round with a hole at the center, cute like a doughnut, with alluring molten cheese flowing out under the rind. Fresh raw cheese, taste a bit “goaty” to Summergirl but the rest of them love it so much. Crowd favourite of the night.
Bleu D’auvergne AOP
Bleu D’auvergne AOP – French blue cheese from Auvergne region. We aren’t a big fan of blue cheese but this is good! Dotted with blue veins, this cheese is buttery, full-bodied and intense but mild pungent taste hence pretty easy to be accepted when comparing to some other blue cheese. Try it bit by bit, trust us, you will slowly gain liking on it! Highly recommended.
Wine to make the night more perfect. We had Yalumba The Y Series Chardonnay 2015, Yalumbia the Y Series Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, and glass of bubbly with Belstar Prosecco. Do check out Yalumbia the Y Series Cabernet Sauvignon 2014. Our top pick. Smooth and rich with lovely length, berry fruit finish.
Special thanks to Hilton KL for having us, and making our Wednesday whole lot more memorable with great cheese, wine, lots of cheers and laughter – the most precious get-together moments.
