The Dark Gallery at MyTown Shopping Centre, Cheras KL – Comes for their artisan ice cream, stays for their single origin chocolate dessert platters, leaves with a tube of 80% dark chocolate ice cream pints.
We have been keeping this cafe in our must-try list since the second week MyTown Cheras opened. Located at Level 1 with an opened dining area, we could hardly take our eyes off customers who were happily indulging into The Dark Gallery ice cream and sipping on freshly brewed hot coffee every time when we passed by. We got lured away with the delicious array of dessert in their sweet treat counter. Everything looks so good! But sadly, it was almost reaching closing time every time we passed by. Not a good time for dessert, though we don’t really watch our weight. Hahaha.
Had our dinner earlier last weekend and made our way to MyTown for their dessert. Like finally hehe. It was quite empty around 7.30PM but quickly filled up by 8PM. The Dark Gallery menu offers a promising selection of ice cream on rotating flavours, prepared in small batches daily with freshly ingredients of highly quality. Signature 80% Dark Chocolate, Signature 38% Milk Chocolate, Dulcey 32% White Chocolate, Single Origin 70% Venezuela Dark Chocolate, Single Origin 70% Dominican Republic Dark Chocolate, Sea Salt Butterscotch, Red Velvet, Pure Vanilla, Sweet Strawberry, Fresh Peppermint – Have them in single (RM10 1 topping, RM12 3 toppings) or double scoops (RM17 1 topping, RM19 3 toppings), served in cone or a cup, or topped up RM2 for freshly baked chocolate waffle bowl.
We had a scoop of Red Velvet and 80% Dark Chocolate each, topped with baked meringue. Other toppings option include 66% Dark Chocolate Sauce, White Chocolate Sauce, Salted Caramel Sauce, Almond Crumble, Cacao Nibs, Caramelised Almonds, Chocolate Shavings, Colourful Sprinkles, Dulcey Chocolate Perles, Homemade Marshmallows, Noir Chocolate Perles and Chocolate Soil.
Tadaa! Our ice cream bowl. Signature 80% Dark Chocolate ice cream was sooooo good, bitter with minimal sweetness, very ” adult” taste hahaha. Picked Red Velvet flavour without Summerkid’s permission but surprisingly he loved it. He always had a thought that red velvet is unbearable sweet in taste and bright red with coloring but for this, it was the other way round. Mild in sweetness, chocolate tinted with pale red. Creamy, pleasing.
For the freshly baked waffle, it is light, crispy with eggy aroma, coated with chocolate at edges. Pairing well with our ice cream but personally, we enjoyed Haagen Dazs waffle more.
Apart from this, do check out their Single Origin Platters, something which is not commonly found in KL. Three single origin hot chocolate shots, three different single origin dark starting with 64% Madagascan and ending with 72% Venezuelan chocolate, or handcrafted single origin chocolate desserts including chocolate tart, macaron, toasted smore’s and chocolate banana trifle are all noteworthy. Price within RM15 to RM21.
For drinks, The Dark Gallery uses 100% Arabica beans for their coffee. Chocolate Espresso Toffee Nut Frappe, Roasted Hazelnut Vanilla Latte Frappe, Dark Chocolate Peppermint Frappe, Honey Swirled Matcha Frappe, Matcha Latte, Genmaicha Late, Cold Pressed Juiced are also available. Spotted Signature Chocolate beverages made from The Dark Gallery chocolate blend of pure Valrhona dark chocolate for smooth, rich and luscious taste! We gonna try this out the next time!
