Li Yen Chinese Restaurant, Ritz-Carlton Hotel Kuala Lumpur award-winning restaurant specializes in Cantonese cuisine ushers in the Year of Rooster with 6 special CNY menu, available for lunch and dinner.
There are 3 choices to choose from for lunch, and another 3 for dinner. Reading down the food list, we found that their lunch set is pretty noteworthy, and diners will be served with dim sum platter in one of the courses!
Prosperity Yee Sang with Tuna 金枪鱼捞生
We sampled only the dinner menu, so if you were there for lunch, do check out their dim sum and let us know! But rest assured, Ritz-Carlton 2017 CNY Set Dinner that we’ve tasted is delicious!
Our meal began with Prosperity Yee Sang. Abundance of colours and textures from various ingredients, better when added with buttery, fresh raw tuna. Lou hei! Lou hei!
Double-boiled Chicken Soup with Fish Maw, Dried Scallop & Conch 鱼鳔干贝螺头炖鸡汤
Second course is our favourite. Tummy warming and nourishing, double-boiled to filled with premium ingredients Feeling so recharged after finishing the whole bowl.
Steamed Sea Grouper with Superior Soy Sauce 清蒸海斑鱼
Braised Sea Cucumber with Broccoli & Mushrooms 海参扣冬菇西兰花
Simmered Chicken in Bouillon 瑶柱贵妃鸡
Is Rooster year so having a plate of chicken on Chinese New Year meal is a must! Li Yen uses Qing Yuan chicken, a breed which is seldom found in KL, as it is imported all the way from Hong Kong. Very tender meat, slippery smooth skin with a glossy coat of scallop sauce. Nice? Of course. And we are so grateful to be able to try this out in Li Yen CNY dinner.
Braised Pork Knuckle with Brown Sauce 红烧元蹄
Glorious braised pork knuckle, dressed in a bed of brown sauce. It is a less fatty version with more lean meat, but the fatty part amount is sufficient to balance up the texture, and the “doink doink” skin, needless to say, is irresistible. Better if there’s a helping of steamed bun to mop up the flavourful gravy.
Lotus Leaf-Wrapped Fried Rice with Fresh Prawn鲜虾荷叶饭
Double-boiled Almond Tea with Glutinous Rice Balls 杏仁露汤丸
Both of us doesn’t like almond tea and after our nightmare from Penang Kimberly Street famous almond soup, we rarely had this sweet soup. Tried to be “cautious” and take only small sip as we were so afraid of the “cockroach smell” but to our surprise, the taste is very much acceptable! Very mild Chinese almond taste, like soya bean milk, but thicker in consistency. Never thought that we’ll like this.
Deep Fried Nian Gao with Yam 芋头炸年糕
We were already quite full by the time this Deep Fried Nian Gao was served but this is real good! Super crispy golden brown outer layer encasing sweet, creamy yam, sandwiching Chinese glutinous rice cake at the center. A simple Chinese New Year dessert that is kept traditional, no fancy ingredients along but Li Yen kitchen team made it so good! Way too lovely and we wonder if they sold only this special dish in ala-carte. Feel like buying home for the family. LOL.
