Bouquerones en Vinagre RM22
Boquerones fish, or anchovy pickled in vinegar and olive oil, served with roast pepper, garnished with chopped green onions. Delicate in flavours, laced with mellow sweetness from roast red pepper.
Pork Sliders RM22
Pork patty with manghego cheese, red pepper and roast onion sandwiched within brioche buns. Petite burgers but finished all three alone and you are close to feeling full. How to eat a slider suggestion: “mash’ it, take by hand, open your mouth big and take a deep bite. Awesome.
Pollo al Ajillo RM24
Pollo al Ajillo, something closer to Asian favourites, easily hits our tastebud. Chook-full of garlics are used to achieve intense garlicky flavours. Chicken is lightly pan-seared to lock in juiciness, then stew till soft, but remain tender with chews, furthered helmed with chock-full of garlicky goodness. Sprinkled with more toasted garlic slices for crisp, pungent taste. Better if there’s a basket of bread to mop up the delicious sauce left in the bowl.
Morcilla Teririne RM26
Morcilla Teririne, or blood sausage terrine is stacked with roasted potatoes and apple compote to sum up to a rich, acquired taste. Some people may be afraid with blood sausage but Mercat’s version yields a pleasing flavours, thanks to the right combination. Surprisingly one of our favourites that night!
Sandria RM24
End the meal with dessert that has nothing to do with flour, butter, cream, or cheese but just cubed watermelon infused with sangria – Spanish traditional alcoholic beverage! Refreshing, zero sinfulness and we really love this! We can have three bowls of this! High recommended.
Beefeater RM38
Do not leave Mercat without trying out their gin & tonics. We were told that Spanish loves gins and tonics so much that they redefined it in a Spanish way – double shots of gin, large ice cubes that melt away slowly, simple garnishing, all filled up in balloon glass.
