Bijan Bar & Restaurant at Jalan Ceylon, Kuala Lumpur (Next to Nerovivo Italian Restaurant) still proudly stands out as one of the best Malay restaurants in KL after 13 years in the city, serving fine selection of Malay cuisine that has impress both local and oversea customers. Definitely a well-recognized eatery, with multiple awards won from TimeOutKL, Malaysia Tatler, The Lonely Planet Guide to Malaysia and more.
Besides dishes served on ala-carte menu, Bijian Bar & Restaurant also carries out special menu for different occasions. The holy month of Ramadhan is one of them. Every year, Bijan will churn out delicious Ramadhan buffet, with reasonable price below RM100 per pax.
Similarly this year, Bijan’s Sous Chef Mohd Shawal and his culinary team will be taking diners down the memory lane and stirring up fulfilling memories of some almost forgotten dishes of the yesteryear recipes handed down over the generations. Not forgetting dishes of traditional recipes marrying with modern day ingredients to recreate that once familiar taste.
Theme as “Selera Ibunda”, there will be 5 rotating menu for Bijan Ramadan buffet spread, including appetizers, main course, rendang, desserts. And not to forget, grill stations and live-cooking stalls that lined up varieties of “panggang” items and many more of old-school favourites.
The buffet is priced at RM90++ per person. Diners who reserve and confirm by 10th June 10th is applicable to Special Early Birds Promotion at RM78++ per pax. The dinner will start from 10th June – 3rd July 2016, 6.45PM – 9.30PM. The kitchen will focus on only Ramadhan buffet during the few hours. While for ala-carte menu, customers can order from 9PM onwards.
We managed to sample some of the items in Bijan Ramdan Buffet 2016 review, and glad that most items were really delicious. For appetizers, there were Yam Bungkus Kelapa Manis, Cucur Udang, Nasi Impit & Sayur Lodeh, Sata Terengganu and Ubi Rebus Getuk.
Our favourite goes to Sata Terengganu, a type of traditional food from the state of Terengganu, wrapping spiced fish meat in banana leaf. Pretty similar to Otak-otak, but more compact in texture, less pronounced in spiciness.
For main course, tempt your palate with Acar Bijian, Gulai Lemak Daging Salai Jantung Pisang, Ikan Kurau Cili Padi Pisang Kapas, Daging Salai, Sotong Sambal Hijau, Rendang Udang, Kailan Ikan Masin, Ketam Masak Cili, Masak Lemak Udang Nenas, Nasi Kerabu Biri, Nasi Minyak, Opor Ayam, Rusk Kambing Masak Hitam, Pucuk Paku Cendawan Sisir and more.
Save some room for dessert too! Even though varieties are not extensive, what dished out were all decent. From Malay kuih-muih like Kuih Keria, Sago Gula Melaka to more innovative sweet treat such as Gula Melaka Cake, Chocolate Durian Cake and Mango Cheesecake, Coconut Creme Caremel, make sure to try them all. Gula Melaka Cake is especially our favourite.
