The Charterhouse Causeway Bay Hong Kong is rated as one of the best 4-stars hotels in Causeway Bay/ Wan Chai , Hong Kong. Reasonable price, strategic location, warmth service, comfortable room, excellent restaurants & cafe – The Charterhouse has gathered all essential requirements for a good hotel.
Travellers will be relieved with the hotel’s location which is less than 10 minutes walking to Causeway Bay MTR, providing convenience to explore different sides of Hong Kong using public transport. It is also close to luxury shopping malls including Times Square and Hysan Place, as well as many famous high-street brands to satisfy your shopping spree. The hotel itself is surrounded by awesome coffee places, restaurants, char chan teng and street food to please the tummy.
Asides for travellers, Charterhouse is also ideal for business visitors, especially during trade fairs and events. There will be hotel shuttle bus to transfer guests from hotel to Hong Kong Convention and exhibition Centre in just a few minutes, saving the hassle of cab waiting.
The Charterhouse Hong Kong offers 6 types of rooms, namely S Signature, S Classic, Family Room, Junior Suite, Business Floor, Superior Room and Economy Single. Each type is uniquely designed to accommodate your needs, making you feel like home.
We paid a site visit to their S Signature room, the largest room type in The Charterhouse Causeway Bay Hong Kong. For these S Signature rooms, the hotel aims to bring out the Five Senses namely Sight, Sound, Savor, Scent and Sleek experience to all guests. A big WOW when once we stepped inside, and have to say, the room definitely fits its name.
Modern contemporary furnishing with subtle colours, completed with vibrant colours on pillow covers and bed linens for a lively touch. European-inspired windows, white walls, wooden floorings, wall shelves and work desk stretching out in elongated style. Considered as very spacious for a hotel room in Hong Kong at about HKD2000+ per night.
We then visited their Family Room on seventh floor, which has two Double Bed suitable for 4 family members at about HKD1500+ per night.
The noteworthy part : Each room is equipped with a handy smart phone, where guests can make unlimited local + international calls up to 5 participated countries, unlimited 3G mobile Internet, Wi-Fi hotspots and tethering, Hong Kong city guide, handy discount plus exclusive deals and more! Cool huh?
And so we said, a good stay must accompanied by a good meal. The Charterhouse Causeway Bay hears you. There are few in-house restaurants & cafe in the hotel that serves great delicacies – Le Petit Salon, The Gazebo Restaurant, Champs Bar, Harry’s Bar and Lounge.
Start with Le Petit Salon located at the lobby level of The Charterhouse, where coffee and pastries take the limelight. Coffee beans are sourced from farms in Brazil, Ethiopia and Salvador, with espresso pulled using sophisticated coffee machine to result in aromatic coffee with balanced bitterness, sweetness and acidity.
Croissant is the best-seller in Le Petit Salon. Many love to grab a croissant or two from the cafe as breakfast, teatime or snack. Do try them out if you were in The Charterhouse Causeway Bay.
Moving on there’s Champs Bar, the hippest sports bar and restaurant in Hong Kong. Well-elaborated with Liverpool football concept. Football shirts lining up on walls are especially catchy.
Since it was almost lunch hour after touring the hotel, we settled down for buffet lunch at The Gazebo, Charterhouse Hotel all-day-dining restaurant. Buffet is available for breakfast, lunch and dinner, putting together local and international delights at affordable prices.
We began with a bowl of curry laksa noodles. Had vermicelle and yellow noodles immersed in orange-red broth, topped with taufu, wantan, dumpling and vegetables. Spiciness is there for the soup, but not as rich and creamy compared to curry mee back in Kuala Lumpur.
Continued to pile the plate with healthy salads and appetizers, followed by Japanese sushi, Chinese Vinegar Pork Trotters, Deep Fried Fish Fillet, Sliced Beef Steak, Sauted Vegetables, Japanese Skewers, and more. Selections are straightforward, not much surprises in the varieties but sufficient to fill the tummy. Plus, every dish tasted quite delicious.
End the meal with desserts. Tau Fu Fah is must-try, followed by cakes and tarts. The Gazebo buffet also offers ice cream indulgence from Dreyer’s, with condiments at the side. Drinks are covered too, from soft drinks, tea to coffee.
Oh ya, not to forget. In case you need to burn some calories from too much eating in Hong Kong (You know, roasted duck, egg tart, wantan mee, gei dan zai, beef offals, curry fish balls, instant noodles with ham, polo bun, etc.), visit their 24 hours gym room after that and run on treadmill for an hour. Then continue to eat. Then gym. And the cycles repeat. Afterall life is awesome with mouth-watering food right? Workout hard, eat hard hahaha.
In sum, we really love the hotel room in The Charterhouse Causeway Bay. Already lock this hotel in our mind and hope to have a stay here in our future visit to Hong Kong. And yeah, we like Le Petit Salon Cafe.
