Sun Sea Restoran 山海茶餐室 at Taman OUG houses one of the most famous pork noodles in KL. Located right beside OUG morning wet market, Restaurant Sun Sea is very crowded for breakfast and early lunch. Choices are ample, from the most popular pork noodles to pan mee, wantan mee, chee cheong fan, yong tau fu, chicken rice, Penang curry mee, Sarawak kolo mee, egg tarts, puffs, etc.
We visited on one Sunday morning. As expected, parking was difficult. Parked quite a distance away within a housing area. Sun Sea Restaurant is a corner kopitiam, but probably due to demand, they’ve taken up the next shop as dining area too. It was very hot and stuffy inside so be ready to get sweating badly throughout the meal. Unless you are lucky enough to get a table outside, that it will be more windy and comfortable.
Sun Sea Restaurant pork noodle stall is busy all the time, with staffs churning out bowls after bowls of pipping hot noodles non-stop. While there are countless pork noodles in KL and PJ, what makes this humble stall scores so much praises? Because their broth is infused with umami sweetness of seafood.
It is said that Sun Sea Restaurant pork noodles adds seafood into their pork broth to result in more flavourful soup, and to certain extend, we can’t deny. Service at Sun Sea Pork Noodle is quite fast, even though there are lots of order. Our small size pork noodles arrived in a jiffy, promising cloudy broth, heaped with generous amount of porky goodness- minced pork, pork innards, pork slices.
Soup is deeply flavoured, intense with natural sweetness of meat. Goes really well with slurpy smooth hor fan. Summerkid loves the soup so much that he literally finished the entire bowl of soup. No trace of feeling thirsty afterwards.
Summergirl tried out pan mee soup from one of the stalls in Sun Sea, which fares equally good. Springy noodles laid in a bowl of clear soup, topped with crispy deep fried anchovies, mince meat, sliced black fungus and vegetables. Heard that Sun Sea Restaurant serves good Penang Curry Mee too, will check out next time.
