Garage 51 by Coffee Societe at Bandar Sunway, PJ is reaching 2-year-old in the end of September. Paid them a visit again last weekend to check out what are the exciting offerings to have as this reputable cafe steps into another new year.
We were welcomed with same photography-worthy, hipster interior, extra-friendly service. What’s drives the difference will be the brand new food items on Garage 51 menu, with much potentials to entice patrons’ tastebuds.
Come early or be ready to wait. Garage 51 opens from 11AM through 11PM, but all seats are filled up within the first half hour once the shop’s shutter door rolled up. Patrons flock in for breakfast/brunch and coffee in groups, couples. A more busy scene is seen especially on weekends. Good to see the brand is growing well even after few years.

Awesome Garage Breakfast 2.0 RM26
Awesome Garage Breakfast 2.0 tastes as awesome as its name, better when Garage 51 presents it in version 2.0. Start with meaty beef salami, jumbo sausage, followed by wholesome poached egg that has smooth egg white enveloping runny, oozing goodness of egg yolk. Balanced up the nutrients with saute Enokitake mushroom, guacamole dipping and carbs from sourdough bread slice, generously smothered with peanut butter sauce. Zucchini Fritter doesn’t shadowed from all the well-loved Big Breakfast items, but instead, a clear winner for us. Love its light texture, filled with julienne zucchini for juicy twist within the batter in mild chewiness.
Messy Garage Pancake with Bacon RM17
Messy Garage Pancake with Bacon – arrives in eye-pleasing presentation, and gets messy when you start tucking it. But this is how it meant to be. Sweet and savoury pancake, putting a cross between breakfast and dessert – huge slice of beef bacon sandwiched within pancakes, and a scoop of ice cream at the top. Colourful with sauces squeezes over like a party poppers celebration that fits in September of Garage 51.
Morning Sunshine RM17
Diners who look for more simple selections can go for Morning Sunshine that combines sunny side up, grilled chicken chicken, avocado, saute mushroom and a slice of sourdough. Not exceptionally huge portion, just nice for a light brunch. Clean eats.
We’ve been seeing Garage 51 “Garage Messed Up Family” Series drinks in our instagram so often recently, hence here we are to say Hello to them. Hi dad, Hi mum, Hi daughter, Hi son. Welcome to Malaysia. =D. Now, you shouldn’t leave the cafe without a sip of these giant milk shakes, extremely famous in Australia.
The Father RM18.90
The Father #GarageMessedUpFamily, blending together chocolate with peanut butter, topped with cream, caramel popcorn, marshmallow, chocolate biscuits and chocolate sauce. Deep, rich chocolaty, helmed with peanut butter goodness. Our top favourite among all four.
The Mother RM18.90
Iced green tea base, topped with oreo biscuits, love letter, whipped cream, and more oreo bits at the side of the glass mouth. More refreshing, distinct in honey sweetness but we hope for stronger green tea taste. A bit too sweet for our liking.
The Daughter RM18.90
Sunny girl. Sunshine smiles. Garage 51 gets this thoughtfully crafted in their “The Daughter” milk shake. Our first impression : Beach-like feels, having whipped cream as white sand, crushed biscuits and rasins as small rocks and seashells, love letter with parsley “growing” on it as coconut tree. The drink itself, is coconut base, milky sweet. Press the syringe served along to add some milk according to your liking.
The Son RM18.90
Last but not least, Garage 51 #GarageMessedUpFamily – “The Son”. Like father like son, thus you can trace the similarity from “The Father” and “The Son”, yet not exactly the same. For the iced milk shake drink, “The Father” is more thick, loaded with chocolate flavours; while “The Son” is lighter in consistency, sweeter, packed with Nutella goodness. Topped with pretzel biscuit, caramel popcorn, marshmallow and drizzles of chocolate sauce.
Comments: To us, Garage 51 coffee is still our favourite compared to the rest of the items in their menu. Despite so, surprises from “Garage Messed Up Family” drinks deserves praises. Loud applause to the team’s patience in preparing every beautiful Messed Up drink (*we sit there for an hour looking at them doing the “sticking” and “pasting” continuously. We surely have no patience to do this) . It is a great drink for sweet tooth, best during scorching hot weather, and definitely good to take photos with. Can order for sharing, and it is quite a big glass with lots of ingredients like biscuits and popcorn in it.
