At Battery Acid Club Damansara Utama, “connection” plays an important role. No, we are not referring to internet connection. In fact, there is no internet connection in this art & design retail ( Objek-Object ) cum coffee place. Hence save the hassle to ask ” Sorry, is there any have wifi here?” or ” May I know the wifi password?”, if you happened to visit Battery Acid Club.
Located within a quiet neighbourhood in Damansara Petaling Jaya, the pop-up of Battery Acid Club Cafe could be unexpected, but what surprise us more is their decent coffee…..and delectable affogato. Says Battery Acid Club is creative (or daring?) for not putting up shop sign, but only a square, black colour board with hollowed circle. Here comes to their successful point, even without the name “Battery Acid Club”, we know from far that is the cafe we are looking for, without having to think twice.
All this thanks to the background of Battery Acid Club founders who are designer themselves, understanding the know-how in creative industry. They realize the difficulties of designers to promote their ideas sometimes, due to the lack of platform in connecting designers together to share their view, products and innovation. At times, potential designs go down the drain, hard work vanished.
Such cases isn’t a good sign. Therefore, these designers has decided to come up with Objek-Object store, a space compiling merchandise from both locals and foreign designers, generating better exposure for the end results they have brainstormed. The retail takes up one-third of Battery Acid Club, while the rest is initially an area where designers and art enthusiasts can gather together to discuss more about design, art, and so. The so called “connection”.
But conversation with no beverage or something to munch on is like having a creme brulee without crispy, torched, caramelized sweet top layer. As a result, Battery Acid Club takes a step further, adding an area for coffee, desserts and light snack. Savoury menu may be up soon, we believe.
For us, not being a designer, we are a bit too shy to talk to them. So we just went in and had our coffee at the corner. Stepping into Battery Acid Club, it looks empty initially, but once we sat down, have further glance, we found every nook and cranny of Battery Acid Club is worth appreciated – creating space from simple combinations of shape, colours and symmetry elements. Modern, sleek, clean, minimalism. Battery Acid Club is now one of our highly recommended cafes in KL – PJ.
Cappuccino RM11
Beverage here covers coffee, teas, coffee and juices. For coffee, Battery Acid Club is serving Altitude Arabicas (West Java/Lintong/Ratawali) and Single Origin of Toraja.
Passionfruit Meringue RM8
Coffee pairs well with their desserts from petite tarts like Dark Chocolate Mousse Rasberry, Passionfruit Meringue, Mocha Mascarpone Cream, Salted Gula Melaka, and Chilli Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt to cakes such as the popular The Cendol (soft pandan sponge layered with sago gula Melaka and coconut cream, topped with jelly layer), Salted Caramel Chocolate and Gula Melaka banana by Petiteserie Desserts. Check out Spiced Sausage, chicken mushroom pie, croissant and curry chicken pies for savoury danish & pastries.
Kacang Tumbuk Affogato RM12
Do not leave Battery Acid Club without trying their back-by-popular-demand kacang tumbuk affogato, a concoction of usual affogato with traditional peanut candy. Enjoy the intense flavours from espresso, coupled with creaminess from ice cream and sticky, peanuty sweetness from crushed kacang tumbuk. It is so good that Summerkid empty the whole sweet treat in a jiffy, only to realize later that Summergirl had only one spoonful. =.=|||
Comments: Do drop by at Battery Acid Club when you are nearby Damansara Utama. Definitely a noteworthy one-stop-center where art, designers talk, creative retail, coffee, desserts meet. Or to say, more than that.
